(HTV) - Continuous flooding has occurred, and to this day, people in many villages in mountainous communes of Nghe An province are still struggling with floodwaters.

Property lost after flood waters rose

In Lam Hoi village, Quy Chau commune, Nghe An province, after two days of rapid floodwaters, many houses were submerged more than 2 meters deep. More than 30 households in the village lost almost all of their property.

Many houses in Nghe An were flooded more than 2 meters deep, property was severely damaged.

Ms. Cao Thi Hien (Hamlet 5, Lam Hoi Village, Quy Chau Commune, Nghe An Province) shared: "Everything is completely damaged, almost all the electrical appliances are broken, can't be used anymore. I found some clothes, just washed them and wear them again."

Ms. Cao Thi Huong (Hamlet 4, Lam Hoi village, Quy Chau commune, Nghe An province) said: "It is lucky to be able to save people's lives, all of our property is lost. In the past few days, people from lower hamlets have come to help the upper hamlets, sharing a little bit to overcome the difficulties together."

Many households continue to struggle in the water

In Chau Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop commune, after 5 days of being submerged in floodwaters, many households are still struggling in the water to search for their few belongings and livestock that were swept away by the water.

Ms. Bui Thi Dan (Chau Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop commune, Nghe An province) shared: "The cows and buffaloes are sent to the nursery, and the chickens are brought home."

People in Chau Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop commune, Nghe An province shared that they had to move livestock and poultry to avoid the flood.

Ms. Dang Thi Loi (Chau Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop commune, Nghe An province) said: "As of today, all the geese and chickens have drifted away. My children and grandchildren took me to the hamlet below to take shelter. I just returned today."

Fear of disease after prolonged flooding

The flooding that lasted for many days completely disrupted the lives of people in the communes of the old Quy Hop district, and the economy stagnated. According to the experience of local people, when the water from upstream flows strongly, the flooding will continue for many days to come.

Due to the prolonged flooding, along with the harsh sunlight and high temperatures in the past two days, the biggest concern of local authorities at the moment is that an epidemic could break out when the water recedes.
