After defeating Egypt 3-1 in the 17th-24th place match, U21 Vietnam will face U21 Chile (who beat U21 Mexico) in the 17th-20th place match of the 2025 U21 World Cup, held in Indonesia.

According to the latest announcement from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the organization's Disciplinary Board determined that an athlete (FIVB did not name) of the U21 Vietnam team is not eligible to compete in this year's tournament.

Thus, the results of the 4 wins against U21 Indonesia, U21 Serbia, U21 Canada and the 1-3 loss against Argentina (deemed a 0-3 loss) will be canceled. We will only be recognized as winning against U21 Puerto Rico because this athlete was not on the registered list. This is very sad and regrettable news for Vietnamese volleyball.

Therefore, U21 Vietnam ended the group stage in 6th place in Group A and did not qualify for the round of 16.

Coach Nguyen Trong Linh and his team will enter the 17th-24th place match with U21 Egypt, at 1:00 p.m. on August 13.

One day after easily defeating host U21 Indonesia 3-0, U21 Vietnam caused an earthquake at the U21 World Cup when they defeated U21 Serbia 3-1, even though their opponent was ranked 9th in the world, 18 places higher than us.

After a 3-0 victory over U21 Indonesia, coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team entered the match confidently, winning set 1 with a score of 25-21. In set 2, the team lost by a narrow margin of 23-25, but quickly regained control of the match, winning set 3 with a score of 25-22 thanks to effective quick attacks.

Set 4 witnessed explosive spirit with many excellent blocks, making the most of the opponent's mistakes. Winning 25-23, U21 Vietnam created a big shock of the tournament.

The Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team will participate in the 2025 U21 World Cup, taking place from August 7 to 17 in Indonesia.

The squad list has been finalized with 12 excellent players, including prominent faces such as Lai Khanh Huyen, Ngo Thi Bich Hue, Nguyen Phuong Quynh and Dang Thi Hong - who was trusted with the captain's armband. According to the draw results, U21 Vietnam is in a challenging group with strong opponents including Indonesia, Argentina, Serbia, Puerto Rico and Canada.

Head coach Nguyen Trong Linh shared that the team had carefully studied the videos of their opponents to grasp their expertise. He emphasized that the teams in the tournament were all highly skilled, with young and energetic squads.

However, U21 Vietnam will play their best in each match, not focusing on performance targets to avoid psychological pressure. “Our goal is to show the highest competitive spirit, solidarity and do our best,” said Mr. Linh. This will be a valuable opportunity for young Vietnamese players to learn and assert their abilities on the world stage.
