Blast furnace No. 2 of Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Iron and Steel Complex produces the first batch of pig iron.

Blast furnace No. 2 of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Iron and Steel Complex Project has just produced its first batch of iron, marking the completion of phase 2 of the project. The complex uses European technology, G7.

The second blast furnace of Dung Quat 2 and the sixth blast furnace of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex came into operation.

Blast furnace No. 2   Danieli Corus (Netherlands) designed, manufactured and supplied. The furnace volume ^{is 2500m3} , producing twice the amount of liquid iron as Dung Quat 1 furnace, consuming less energy. Hoa Phat also invests more than current environmental standards, especially in reducing ^CO2 emissions and reducing energy consumption.

Technological equipment plays a core role in the success of the project. Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 uses technological lines from European partners, G7 such as the steelmaking oxygen furnace (BOF) and RH type vacuum refining furnace of SMS (Germany), Primetals thick plate steel billet casting machine (UK) and Danieli Corus blast furnace (BF) (Netherlands). This equipment system aims to achieve the highest product quality, ensuring all important production stages are operated in the best, most environmentally friendly manner with the lowest production costs.

The Iron Plant's engineering team controls the blast furnace's technical parameters in the central control room.

As the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia, Hoa Phat invests in modern technology according to a closed-loop model, recovering all excess heat, utilizing excess coal gas in iron and steel smelting as fuel for boilers to generate electricity. This advanced equipment system not only helps increase production efficiency, optimize product quality, save energy but also minimize operating costs.

With the completion of Dung Quat 2 blast furnace 2, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Complex is operating a total of 6 blast furnaces, including 4 furnaces of Hoa Phat Dung Quat 1 Project and 2 furnaces of Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Project. The total capacity of the Complex reaches 12 million tons/year, including 9 million tons of hot rolled coil (HRC), high-quality steel.

Besides the popular HRC line, Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 project focuses on producing high-end HRC products, serving the manufacturing and processing industries, automobile industry, food industry, petrochemical industry, household appliances...

After completing the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Project, the Group's total steel output will reach 16 million tons/year, equivalent to the top 30 steel enterprises in the world .
