A video recording the moment a 4-year-old boy continuously called out to his mother while she lay in a hospital bed fighting terminal cancer has touched the hearts of millions of social media users.

Yang Yucheng, from Yunnan province, China, gently calls "Mom" and whispers "I love you" as he sits by his bed at home. Cun Caituan, the boy's mother, is battling terminal cancer.

The video, shared on October 12, attracted more than 5 million views on Douyin, and was recorded by the boy's father about 5 days before his mother passed away.

Cun Caituan lost 20kg in just one month.

The boy lay next to his mother, innocently asking why she wasn't talking to him. His mother just gently placed her hand on his face and said, "Go to sleep."

Despite her best efforts, the boy’s mother could not overcome the disease. On October 17, the boy’s father announced his wife’s passing on his Douyin account with 200,000 followers.

He said that in his mother’s final months, the boy seemed to understand that his mother was about to leave. From a child who often cried for his mother to hug him, he gradually matured, knowing how to take care of his mother, giving her water and massaging her when she was tired.

The boy's parents met in 2017. Two years later, they got married and welcomed their first son in 2020.

The boy’s father has been working hard to find a way to treat his wife. The total amount of money the family has spent is up to 700,000 yuan (nearly 2.5 billion VND). His love and sacrifice have touched the hearts of many people.
