Previously, the Criminal Police Department discovered that Nguyen Van But frequently provided false and misleading information, demonstrating criminal activities of fraud and property appropriation.

Initial investigations determined that from around June 2023 until now, Nguyen Van But has taken advantage of his status as a state official to provide a lot of fake information about his ability to help people in need of applying for jobs in state agencies, then asked to transfer money to But to take care of "running jobs".

However, after receiving the money, Nguyen Van But did not fulfill his commitment but appropriated the money for personal expenses.
