Messi was honored to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from the President of the United States.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is awarded to “individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace , or other significant social, public, or private endeavors.” Messi is one of two athletes honored this year, alongside basketball legend Magic Johnson.

Although he only moved to the US to play for Inter Miami last summer, Messi has quickly left a strong mark.
