Microsoft is about to overcome the final hurdle in its acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

According to Digital Trends , Microsoft has had a hard time getting approval for its deal with Activision Blizzard, but they just overcame a major hurdle.

Specifically, the UK's CMA - which previously blocked the deal over concerns about its impact on the cloud gaming market - recently said that it "provisionally concluded" that Microsoft had addressed the company's biggest issues with the acquisition deal.

Specifically, Microsoft will hand over cloud gaming rights for Activision Blizzard games to Ubisoft. The CMA explained in a press release that: "The presale of cloud gaming rights will enable Ubisoft to become the primary content provider for cloud gaming services. In contrast to the original agreement, Microsoft will no longer control cloud gaming rights for Activision content, and therefore will not have the right to restrict access to major Activision products for its own cloud gaming service or refuse to provide those games to competitors."

The CMA press release also revealed that Ubisoft will likely ask Microsoft to port Activision games to operating systems other than Windows and support game emulators when requested. Of course, both Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are quite happy about this.

The final decision from the CMA is expected to be made on October 6. As Microsoft president Brad Smith said Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard is expected to close on October 18.
