The North is starting to get hot.

VnExpressVnExpress31/03/2024

The Northwest region on March 31 recorded temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, the highest at 1 p.m. in Yen Chau, Son La , was over 37 degrees Celsius.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that due to the influence of the expanding and active low pressure area in the west, the heat wave in the Northern region will increase from tomorrow and is forecast to last until the end of next week. The highest temperature during the day in the Northwest region is generally 35-38 degrees, some places over 38 degrees, in the Northeast region 35-37 degrees, some places over 37 degrees, low air humidity at 40-55%.

The US website Accuweather predicts the highest temperature next week in Hanoi will be 35-36 degrees Celsius, and 25 degrees at night. At high points over 1,500 meters above sea level such as Sa Pa (Lao Cai), the temperature will be between 17-29 degrees Celsius at the beginning of the week, and by the end of the week the highest temperature during the day will be 25-27 degrees Celsius.

The Central region from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen is affected by the low pressure area in the west combined with the hot, dry foehn wind effect, so the heat has appeared since yesterday. The meteorological agency recorded at 1 p.m. today that Tuyen Hoa (Quang Binh) was nearly 39 degrees; Dong Ha (Quang Tri), Nam Dong (Thua Thien Hue), Son Hoa (Phu Yen) was over 37 degrees.

The heat wave in the Thanh Hoa - Phu Yen region is forecast to last until April 5, with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 36-39 degrees Celsius, with some places over 39 degrees Celsius.

The South is affected by stable maritime air masses in the upper atmosphere, so it is hot and sunny, with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius, and in some places above 37 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists warn of an increased risk of explosions, fires and forest fires due to high temperatures and low humidity in the coming period. Increased demand for electricity due to heat can lead to the risk of explosions in residential areas. Prolonged heat can also cause dehydration, exhaustion and even heat stroke in people exposed to high temperatures for a long time.

Therefore, when traveling or working outdoors in hot weather, people need to wear sun protection items such as hats, shirts, masks, gloves, sunglasses... and regularly drink water.

According to the meteorological agency, in the first 20 days of April 2024, the average temperature in the Northern, North Central and North Central regions will generally be 1-2 degrees Celsius higher than the average of many years, while the remaining regions will be 0.5-1.5 degrees Celsius higher.
