Western region warns of water shortage during Tet, calls for water saving

Many provinces in the West have warned that the sudden increase in demand for domestic water could cause water shortages during Tet, and have asked people to use water sparingly and find solutions to store water.

On January 15, the Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation of Bac Lieu province notified communes, wards, towns and water users in the province about reserving domestic water for the 2025 Lunar New Year.

According to this unit, due to the sudden increase in demand for domestic water during the Lunar New Year 2025, water supply systems may be overloaded and lack capacity during peak hours, leading to weak water, water shortages or damage to the water supply pipeline network.

The Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation of Bac Lieu province requested localities to support information for people, agencies, enterprises, schools, medical stations, etc. in the area to promptly have plans and measures to store water in water containers available at home from January 16 (December 17) until after Lunar New Year 2025.

At the same time, it is necessary to use water economically and avoid wasting it to ensure enough water for daily use in the future. If you do not need to use water or plan to leave the house for a long time, please turn off the valve after the water meter to avoid loss and waste of clean water.

Similarly, the Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation of Soc Trang province has just issued a notice stating that in the days before Tet, people's water demand increased dramatically, causing the water supply system to be overloaded during peak hours.

This unit recommends that localities advise people, agencies, factories, schools, clinics, etc. to plan to store domestic water from today (January 15) until after Lunar New Year 2025.
