Binh Tinh did something earth-shattering, playing the role of artist Minh Nhi's mother in the play Chaos in the Slums .
Minh Nhi, Binh Tinh: from father and son to mother and son
This is probably the rare time Binh Tinh plays the role of a prostitute. In The Slum Riot (author: Hoang Man, director: Ngoc Duyen), Binh Tinh plays the character of Mrs. Hon, a fried rice seller.
The story takes place in a poor neighborhood with only a few boarding houses but all sorts of problems. Mrs. Hon was abused by her husband, who took all her property and left her, forcing her to survive day by day with a small fried rice shop.
Although poor, she was kind and adopted two abandoned children. Every day she fried rice to sell, she had extra to give to the poor at the foot of Muoi Bridge late at night.
Artist Minh Nhi plays the role of Binh An, the baby boy that Mrs. Hon picked up from the base of a tree when he was still a newborn.
In general, watching this mother and daughter pair, the audience probably has to… imagine very hard to accept the truth. However, it is also a bold way for the director to create irony, creating laughter for the audience.
Through that, it conveys a story about humanity. Although poor, they live with love, knowing how to help and support each other to overcome difficulties.

In this play, Binh Tinh not only plays Minh Nhi's "mother" but also the "mother" of actress Maika. Maika is the daughter of artist Kim Tu Long, Binh Tinh's adoptive father. For a long time, Binh Tinh and Maika have been close sisters.
Maika plays the character Huong, a girl who has had a rough love life. Huong falls into a fraudulent marriage, and after overcoming the initial shock, she thinks she is at peace with her poor love. Unexpectedly, an incident occurs...

Ngoc Duyen tries her hand at comedy for the first time
Ngoc Duyen is very familiar to audiences in many thorny roles at Hoang Thai Thanh Stage, 5B Drama Theater...
Not only that, she is also a talented director, Duyen's most recent play at Hoang Thai Thanh is Iron Cage . Not only strong on stage, Duyen also participates in many TV shows and movies at Khang Media Company.
The Slum Riot was formed from small stories somewhere in life. Duyen discussed with artist Cong Danh (aka author Hoang Man) so that he could come up with ideas and write a complete script.
Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Ngoc Duyen said her strength is drama, with "Dai nao khu chut" is the first time Duyen tries her hand at creating a comedy.
She said: "I'm not good at comedy so I build my comedy from situational comedy. In the play, I want to balance it, with tragic and comedic elements interspersed to tell a meaningful story, highlighting the image of ordinary people who know how to live beautifully and kindly. Hopefully our efforts will be well received by the audience."
In the play, Ngoc Duyen also brings out actors like Le Nam, Bao Bao... who have long been familiar with light comedies, now invested with characters with psychological depth to make the audience laugh and cry with their own lives.
Rumble in the Slums is the signature play of this year’s September 2nd celebration at Truong Hung Minh Theatre. The two opening performances start this week, August 22nd and 23rd.
