Open 1 bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang hydroelectric reservoir at 6:00 p.m. on October 21

On the afternoon of October 21, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment issued Document No. 8140/CD-BNNMT to the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company regarding the opening of the bottom spillway of Tuyen Quang Hydropower reservoir.

Accordingly, at 1:00 p.m. on October 21, the upstream water level of Tuyen Quang Lake was at 119.66 m, the downstream water level was 48.37 m, the flow to the lake was 545 m3/s, and the total flow to the downstream was 117 m3/s.

Implementing the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure on the Red River Basin in Decision No. 740/QD-TTg dated June 17, 2019 of the Prime Minister, Decision No. 922/QD-TTg dated May 14, 2025 of the Prime Minister amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure on the Red River Basin, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment ordered the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to open 1 bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir at 6:00 p.m. on October 21.

Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company closely monitors the development of floods, construction safety, flow to the reservoir, upstream and downstream water levels of the reservoir, and promptly reports to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (through the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control) and relevant agencies as prescribed.

At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued Document No. 8141/BNNMT-DD to the People's Committees of Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho and Hanoi provinces and cities on ensuring downstream safety when operating Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir.

Accordingly, to ensure safety for works and riverside activities, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of the above provinces and cities to immediately notify authorities at all levels, people, organizations operating on rivers and riverside; aquaculture facilities, water transport vehicles; ferry terminals; review and ensure safety of works under construction; activities of sand and gravel exploitation, gathering and transfer to know information about flood discharge from Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir to proactively take preventive measures to ensure safety of people and property.

Provinces and cities promptly report unusual situations to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (through the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control).
