Each house of love - A deep gratitude

Mrs. Luong Thi Luu in Phu Thinh 4 residential group, Van Phu ward, had a husband who was a martyr who died in the war against America. Before having a new house like now, the martyr's wife, now 85 years old, lived in a small wooden house built more than 40 years ago.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Luu cherished two big dreams: One was to find and bring her husband's remains back to his hometown; two was to have a spacious house to have a solemn place to worship her husband.

Now, one of his two dreams has come true. Since mid-2024, the 65 square ^meter house that he has always dreamed of has been realized thanks to the support of the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs.

Veteran Dong Quang Hung, Chairman of the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, shared: "As soon as we learned about Mr. Luu's situation, we quickly visited his family and quickly implemented a plan to support him in building a new house."

With support of 80 million VND from the Air Defense - Air Force, the Association coordinated with the local government, mass organizations and the help of Mr. Luu's family to complete the house worth nearly 200 million VND.

Mr. Luu shared: “In the past, the State supported me with 50 million VND to build a house, but I did not dare to accept it because I did not have the corresponding money. Now, thanks to the veterans in the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, my family has a solid house. I really could not wish for anything more.”

Mrs. Ta Thi Nhat (born in 1923, Binh Tra residential group, Au Lau ward) is the mother of a martyr. The wooden house she lived in has existed for 70 years and is very degraded. Like Mrs. Luu, Mrs. Nhat's family also refused the government's support to build a house because they could not afford the corresponding money.

Comrade Dong Quang Hung said: “When we met Mr. Nhat, he was already 100 years old. We could not hesitate in building a house for him!”

With their best efforts, the veterans quickly connected with a benefactor to support the family with 180 million VND to build a new house.

Some houses were supported by the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs.

Supporting martyrs' families in building houses is a meaningful activity that the Provincial Association for Supporting Martyrs' Families has carried out over the years, as a practical way to show gratitude to martyrs who sacrificed for the Fatherland.

During that process, a lot of time and effort was spent by veterans to verify the circumstances of the martyrs' families; select the most suitable support objects; mobilize and connect many organizations and kind-hearted individuals to help and support...

Whenever we receive information about families of martyrs having difficulty with housing, we go there to understand the circumstances and conditions of the families, and at the same time coordinate with local authorities to come up with the best possible support plan, from which we can plan to connect and mobilize benefactors to join hands to help with funding for house building.

Since 2018, the Lao Cai Province Martyrs' Families Support Association has supported the construction of 144 houses for 144 martyrs' families. On average, each house is supported with 50 - 60 million VND, with some houses supported at 150 or 180 million VND.

Each completed house is a dream come true for a martyr's family.

Mr. Hoang Anh Gan in Ba Khe village, Cat Thinh commune, is the son of a martyr and has just got a new house. He said: "Thanks to the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs and the care and help of the local government, my family has been able to build a new, spacious house and live a stable life."

The inauguration and handover ceremonies for houses to martyrs' families are always solemnly organized by the Association for Supporting Martyrs' Families.

With dedication and effort, the veterans in the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs are a bridge of affection between philanthropists and families of martyrs, not only building new houses but also fostering warmth and gratitude for the sacrifices of families of martyrs to the Fatherland.
