MU spent 85 million euros to buy Sesko, former assistant of Sir Alex Ferguson spoke bitterly

Benjamin Sesko is the transfer focus of the Premier League. The 22-year-old striker has just reached an agreement to join MU under a contract until 2030. At the moment, MU is trying to negotiate the price with Leipzig. MU is willing to spend a total of 85 million euros to buy Sesko, while the German team wants more than that.

Sesko is considered the solution to the striker problem that gave coach Ruben Amorim a headache last season. He is 1m95 tall, has an ideal physique, technique, speed and comprehensive finishing ability. Last season, Sesko scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga to become Leipzig's number 1 striker. In the past 2 years, Sesko has 39 goals in 87 matches.

This is the luggage for him to confidently shine once he moves to MU. However, the former Old Trafford player Rene Meulensteen is skeptical. The coach under Sir Alex Ferguson thinks Sesko is no different from Hojlund and MU will likely taste the bitter fruit because of this deal.

“Manchester United’s offer for Benjamin Sesko is essentially the same as what they did with Rasmus Hojlund,” Meulensteen said. “If he scores in the first three or four games and starts well, he could be the answer to the club’s goalscoring problem. But that’s not likely to happen.

If you look at Hojlund, he did well at Atalanta and then went to Manchester United. The same thing is happening with Sesko. The Bundesliga is a very different league to the Premier League, so he needs to adapt.”

Instead of Sesko, Meulensteen believes United should go for Ollie Watkins because the striker is playing in the Premier League and can adapt better. "I'm considering a player like Ollie Watkins, who could be selected," Meulensteen explained. "He's very hard-working, has similar qualities to Sesko, except he has experience playing in the Premier League, which is extremely valuable."
