According to The Hill, the Pentagon confirmed on September 25 that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will meet with senior US military leaders next week, after reports that the meeting will involve hundreds of generals and admirals.
“The secretary (of war) will address senior military leaders early next week,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement to The Hill , without providing further details.

The Washington Post first reported that Hegseth had ordered hundreds of U.S. military generals and admirals to attend an unscheduled meeting earlier this week without giving a formal reason. The meeting was scheduled for September 30 at a Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia.
The directive was sent to most senior US military commanders overseas, including all officers of the rank of brigadier general or higher, the Navy's equivalent rank, and senior advisers, according to a source familiar with the matter. It is unclear exactly how many were ordered to attend the meeting in person.
According to the Washington Post , it is rare for such a large-scale meeting with senior US military leaders to be held in person at the same location. The short timeframe is also unusual. Such a meeting usually takes months to plan and requires advance notice, as senior US commanders may be in the Middle East, Africa and Europe...
Previously, Mr. Hegseth announced a plan to reorganize the high-level command structure and generals in the army.
