International Customs Day 2025 is associated with many goals

The theme for 2025 chosen by the World Customs Organization is "Customs committed to fulfilling their mission for the purpose of: Efficiency, security and prosperity"

On January 24, the General Department of Customs informed that the World Customs Organization issued a notice on International Customs Day January 26, 2025 with the theme: "Customs authorities commit to performing their duties for the goal of Efficiency, security and prosperity" with the aim of calling on member customs authorities to demonstrate their commitment to actively implementing WCO tools and transforming them into specific activities with the goal of facilitating trade, ensuring supply chain security and promoting sustainable economic development.

Through this theme, WCO calls on members to promote the implementation of specific activities for each objective such as the efficiency target associated with the modernization of customs procedures, applying digital transformation, developing automatic data exchange mechanisms and strengthening the gate system to facilitate and reduce customs clearance time. Promote data-based procedures and use modern technology such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data to support decision-making, risk management, etc.

Objectives: Ensure security and enhance supply chain security through the implementation of the Framework for Trade Security and Facilitation. Prevent illicit trafficking of prohibited goods such as small arms, light weapons, precursors, explosives, nuclear materials and strategic goods. Prevent money laundering and prepare for emergency situations.

The goal of prosperity, promoting reform and supporting business operations, especially start-ups and new businesses through providing full information and supporting the market entry process. Ensuring tax management and collection, strengthening the integrated revenue management system, enhancing the review, assessment, updating knowledge on trade trends for customs officers, providing full information to facilitate businesses in the process of complying with tax regulations. Promoting sustainable economic development contributes to the development of a green economy, environmentally friendly products, minimizing environmental impacts in line with the government's goals of sustainable development. Developing comprehensive policies and tools to address the challenges of many target groups, ensuring comprehensiveness and fairness, taking into account the operational practices of small and medium enterprises, paying attention to the issue of diversity and gender equality.
