Mr. Chu Thuc Dat, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, said: The Prime Minister has chosen October 1st of each year as "National Innovation Day" and assigned the Ministry of Science and Technology to coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment (now the Ministry of Finance ) to organize response activities.
This year, the response ceremony took place at the National Innovation Center (Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Hanoi) with the theme: "Innovation for all people - Driving force for national development". The highlight was the online connection of bridges across the country, including 34 provinces and centrally-run cities, about 20 universities, research institutes and typical innovation organizations. The program was also livestreamed on official channels such as VnExpress Newspaper, Government Electronic Information Portal, Ministry of Science and Technology Information Portal and Ministry of Finance, helping scientists , businesses and people across the country to easily access.
This year’s International Exhibition on Innovation with the theme “Strategic Technology – Shaping the Future of Vietnam” introduces products, technologies and solutions according to Decision No. 1131/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister . This year, the exhibition prioritizes products that are commercially viable, can be operated and interacted with right at the exhibition space, enhancing the experience and promoting connections between organizations, businesses and visitors.
The National Innovation Policy Forum with the theme “Innovation – Policy Creation, Strengthening Implementation to Promote Double-Digit Economic Growth” will discuss new mechanisms, policies and measures to promote innovation in enterprises, aiming to increase labor productivity, improve overall efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of the economy, towards the goal of high and sustainable GDP growth.
In particular, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the Provincial Innovation Index (PII) at the ceremony. This is the third year the Ministry of Science and Technology has announced the PII, providing an overview of the current status of the socio-economic development model based on science, technology and innovation of each locality, helping to identify strengths, weaknesses and potentials that need to be exploited.
The National Innovation Day 2025 is co-chaired by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance, with the implementing units being the Department of Innovation and the National Innovation Center (NIC). This is the first time that there has been coordination between the state management agency for innovation and the Ministry of Finance, with the accompaniment of NIC, bringing about many positive results, demonstrating the determination to promote the combined strength and join hands to promote innovation activities in Vietnam.
On the sidelines of the event, many diverse activities also took place from October 1-3, 2025, including seminars, STEM experiences, honoring outstanding teams in the International STEM and Robotics Tournament, voting for innovative products and technology experiences.
