Nghe An: Highlights on March 23

* On the morning of March 23, Thanh Tien commune (Thanh Chuong district) held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the commune's founding (March 23, 1954 - March 23, 2024), receiving the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and announcing the decision to achieve advanced new rural standards for the period 2021-2025.

During the 70th anniversary of its establishment, the Party Committee and people of Thanh Tien have always strived to be self-reliant and self-reliant, overcoming all difficulties to rise up. During the two wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, Thanh Tien commune had 1,384 outstanding people leave to defend the Fatherland; 1,536 people joined the frontline laborers; and 150 youth volunteers.

The Party and State have awarded 4,200 Orders and Medals of various types to collectives and individuals. The commune was awarded the Third Class Military Exploit Medal, Third Class Resistance Medal and for four consecutive years from 1969 to 1972 the commune achieved the title of Determined to Win Unit and was recognized as a Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

* The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just decided to establish an inspection team to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing in the province.

Accordingly, the delegation inspected the implementation of anti-IUU fishing work according to the direction in documents of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

In particular, the Delegation will focus mainly on the implementation, direction and inspection of the Steering Committee against IUU fishing in coastal districts and towns; inspecting the management of fleets, statistics and monitoring of output in localities. Inspecting the handling of fishing vessels that have lost VMS connection at the People's Committees of coastal districts and towns; coastal border posts; inter-sectoral working groups inspecting and controlling fisheries.

* The project to restore and upgrade the Northern Nghe An Irrigation System funded by JICA is a major project of Nghe An, with an investment cost of 5,705 billion VND, serving irrigation for 27,656 hectares of agricultural land in Yen Thanh, Do Luong, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau districts and Hoang Mai town.

The project was inaugurated on March 22, 2024. The recent inauguration ceremony of the "Restoration and Upgrading of the Northern Nghe An Irrigation System" project is one of the important events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

* Comrade Nguyen Dac Tuan - Secretary of the Youth Union of Nghi Thuy Ward, Cua Lo Town and Comrade Nguyen Anh Tu - Secretary of the Youth Union of Quy Hop District Police are two individuals from Nghe An who were awarded the Central Ly Tu Trong Award in 2024 by the Central Youth Union.

* On March 23, 20 secretaries and deputy secretaries of Party cells under the Party Committee of Nghe An Provincial Customs Department participated in the 2024 Competition for Excellent Party Cell Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries at the grassroots level.

The 2024 Competition for Excellent Party Cell Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries of Nghe An Customs Department aims to foster and improve knowledge and professional skills in Party building work and the ability to manage, operate and handle situations arising from practice, while creating conditions for Party Cell Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries under the Nghe An Customs Department Party Committee to exchange and learn experiences; contributing to improving the quality of Party Committee and Party Cell activities and leadership capacity, thereby performing well the assigned duties and tasks.

* On the morning of March 23 (February 14 of the lunar calendar), Dien Chau district held the opening ceremony of the Cuong Temple Festival 2024. On the same day, the people of Xuan Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) held the opening ceremony of the Gam Temple - Pagoda Festival 2024. The festivals will feature many exciting cultural and sports activities.
