On August 21, the People's Court of Thua Thien Hue province opened the first instance trial of defendant Tran Van Ty (born in 1996, residing in Binh Tien commune, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province) on the charge of "Murder".

According to the indictment, at about 4:30 p.m. on August 1, 2023, Ty was invited to his house by Mr. Tran Ngoc Th. and Ms. Van Thi Bich L., both living in the same commune, to have a drink.

At about 9 p.m. that same day, Mr. Th. stood up to sing karaoke, while Ms. L. sat at the drinking table in front of the house with Ty and two other people. At this time, because he suspected Ty of having an affair with his wife, Mr. Th. and Ty had a conflict. Mr. Th. hit Ms. L. twice in the face, scaring her into going inside the house; Mr. Th. and Ty continued to argue and were stopped by everyone, so Ty took his car and went home.

When Ty was about 60 meters away from Mr. Th.'s house, he saw a resident using an iron bar as a fence, so Ty stopped the car, took a bar longer than 1 meter, then drove back to Mr. Th.'s house and hit Mr. Th. twice in the head, causing him to fall to the ground unconscious. Mr. Th. was taken to the emergency room with a disability assessment rate of 41%.

The jury found that Ty’s actions were very dangerous, of a hooligan nature, and that he wanted to take the life of another person, thus committing the crime of “Murder”. Therefore, the Court sentenced the defendant Tran Van Ty to 7 years in prison.
