Since 4am, Con Go fish market, Cam Nhuong commune (Cam Xuyen) has been bustling with boats docking, carrying full holds of fresh seafood including: fish, squid, crab... Many fishing boats returned after 2 days at sea, earning more than 20 million VND from selling seafood. In particular, some boats that hit the fishing grounds could earn a profit of 40 - 50 million VND, so fishermen were very excited.

Having just returned to the mainland after 3 days at sea, Mr. Cao Ba Can - a fisherman in Hai Nam village, Cam Nhuong commune happily shared: " For more than a week now, the weather has been foggy, so there are many large fish schools in the open sea. These past few days, we have been fishing with lights on all night. This trip, we went for nearly 3 days and collected 500 kg of mackerel. With a selling price of 70,000 VND/kg, the 3 brothers on the boat earned an average income of 10 million VND each after deducting all expenses ."

In addition to mackerel, at this time, Cam Nhuong fishermen also catch many kinds of seafood such as: barracuda, red fish, mu fish, various kinds of squid...

Having hit a jackpot of 200kg of barracuda, fisherman Nguyen Xuan Tuong of Xuan Bac village, Cam Nhuong commune shared: " Barracuda was purchased at 120,000 VND/kg, about 10% higher than last month. This trip, I earned over 24 million VND. Having hit a jackpot at sea and getting a good price, we fishermen have more motivation to continue going out to sea ."

Lunar New Year is approaching so seafood is easier to consume, prices have increased about 10% compared to last month and are purchased by traders as soon as they reach shore so everyone is excited.

In addition to the boats that caught a lot of fish, at dawn, the fishing boats also brought back dozens of tons of shrimp.

Sea shrimp is purchased at 10,000 - 12,000 VND/kg, 2,000 VND/kg higher than last month's price.

According to fishermen in Cam Nhuong commune, in the first fishing trips of 2024, the weather was quite favorable, so many boats had a big catch of seafood, especially those fishing in the open sea. 3 days ago, the boat of fisherman Le Xuan Tien in Xuan Bac village, Cam Nhuong commune caught more than 2 tons of croaker and earned more than 100 million VND.

With more than 210 boats of all kinds, Cam Nhuong commune is the locality with the largest number of fishing boats in Cam Xuyen district. Recently, fishermen have invested in boats and fish finders to exploit offshore areas. Thanks to that, fishing activities are more effective.

In the first month of 2024, the weather was favorable, so the seafood flow was high, each ship earned an average of 20 - 40 million VND per trip. Notably, some fishermen such as Le Xuan Tien and Nguyen Van Quang won hundreds of millions of VND. It is estimated that up to this point, the whole commune has caught 150 tons, 30 tons higher than in January 2023.
