Landslides caused cracks in many places in the area of Mr. Tran Van Hai's house, Thong Nhat village, Cam Due commune.

Located in the downstream area of Ke Go Lake, under great pressure from the flow, many sections of the bank have been continuously "swallowed" during the rainy and flood seasons. The hottest landslide section currently stretches 200 m through Thong Nhat and Quoc Tien villages, directly affecting 9 households.

Erosion along the Ngan Mo River has been going on for a long time; many points have been reinforced since 2020 with temporary measures but cannot withstand the devastation of nature. In particular, after two storms No. 5 and No. 10 directly affected the Ha Tinh area, the erosion became even more severe, with some households being "eaten" by erosion up to 5 meters.

Landslide approached the foundation of Mr. Tran Van Hai's house in Thong Nhat village, Cam Due commune.

In Thong Nhat village, 5 households were directly affected by the landslide. The most serious area was the area of Mr. Tran Van Hai's household. According to the reporter's records, the 22-meter landslide right behind Mr. Hai's house was "eaten" by river water from 5 to 7 meters deep into the ground. Many trees and auxiliary structures of the family were swept down to the riverbank by the landslide.

Mr. Hai said that the landslide had reached close to the foundation of the house, causing many cracks and signs of subsidence in the house's foundation. To temporarily fix the problem, the family, with the support of the inter-family group and local authorities, used bamboo poles and stone gabions to reinforce the house. However, this was only a temporary solution.

Next to Mr. Tran Van Hai's house, the landslide situation is also quite serious for the family of Mr. Tran Dinh Huu and Mrs. Bui Thi Huyen. After storm No. 10, Mr. Huu's family continued to lose more land, the total area of this area was eroded by nearly 30 meters. Alarmingly, a dirt road that was the path for people along the riverbank has completely disappeared, the landslide area is about 6 meters deep, creating a deep abyss right next to Mr. Huu's house.

Mrs. Bui Thi Huyen shared that whenever there was a storm warning, the nearby households hardly dared to sleep. The old landslide had not been repaired yet, but the new landslide appeared. My family also used bamboo stakes and sandbags to reinforce the emergency landslides.

Mr. Dang Van Thanh, Head of the Economic Department, Cam Due Commune People's Committee, said that the erosion along the Ngan Mo River has been happening for many years, but the most serious situation has been in the last 3 years. In areas where the riverbank is close to people's houses, the commune government has supported by embanking the riverbank with stone cages to reinforce it, but this is only a temporary measure.

It is known that in 2024, the local government has allocated 14.8 billion VND to build anti-erosion works over 400 m long at major landslide points near the foot of Cho Vuc bridge. However, according to the survey, the whole commune still has about 4 other serious riverbank landslides. In the long term, the locality hopes that competent authorities will consider allocating funds to build solid embankments at these landslide points, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
