The project to build Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat Airport, invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), started at the end of 2022 with a total investment of nearly VND 11,000 billion. Package No. 12 "Construction and installation of passenger terminal equipment" started at the end of August 2023 and has been under construction for nearly 7 months.
Mr. Vu The Phiet, General Director of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), said that the joint venture contractor for package No. 12 has completed the CPM (Critical Path Method) to strictly manage each item, aiming to shorten the overall progress by 60 days compared to the initial agreement with the investor.
From this method, contractors determine that each item will shorten the progress, such as: completing the reinforced concrete structure of the terminal by April 30, 2024, shortening the progress by 15 days; completing the steel structure of the terminal by October 14, 2024, shortening the progress by 37 days; completing the roof erection by February 2025, shortening the progress by 17 days; completing the electromechanical part by March 2025, shortening the progress by 33 days; completing the installation of operating equipment by April 22, 2025, shortening the progress by 2 months.
As of March 18, Tan Son Nhat Airport's T3 terminal has completed more than 81% of the rough construction volume. "Contractors divided the area into small sections for rolling construction, performing two main shifts a day, from 6am to 10pm, some tasks such as transporting concrete, materials, and dumping waste will operate overnight. Any items that arise will be switched to "3 shifts, 4 crews", working on Saturdays and Sundays," said Mr. Le Khac Hong, Head of the T3 Passenger Terminal Project.
Reporter of Giao Thong Newspaper noted the rapid progress at the construction site of passenger terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat airport:
The T3 passenger terminal project at Tan Son Nhat International Airport is part of the list of key national transport projects headed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh . The T3 passenger terminal at Tan Son Nhat Airport is designed to handle 20 million passengers per year, "resolving" the current overload situation at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
On the 2nd floor of the T3 terminal, hundreds of workers are working hard to construct the floor beam formwork.
The temperature at the T3 terminal construction site in recent days has been affected by unprecedented heat, but workers are still working with their backs exposed.
About 30 meters from the station, workers use hydraulic bending machines to produce steel structures to move to high floors. A worker said that the outdoor temperature at locations with a lot of heat-absorbing steel can reach nearly 40 °C.
Two workers used a soil compactor to reinforce the first floor of the passenger terminal in the midday sun.
A "Ninja" of the T3 terminal construction site steps out of the construction site. During the scorching hot days of March, workers had to wrap scarves around their faces to avoid heatstroke.
With his face red from the heat at 11am, Mr. Le Thanh Xuan (58 years old), Head of the construction contractor's safety committee, kept an eye on the workers working on the scaffolding.
With the motto "eat quickly, sleep quickly", the two engineers hurried to the construction site right after lunch.

However, the speed has been accelerated to the maximum by the joint venture contractor to help the current T3 terminal body to complete the 3rd floor and prepare to move to the 4th floor. The ACV representative said that the joint venture contractor is striving to complete the entire reinforced concrete structure before April 30 this year, not letting the rainy season slow down the construction pace.
