In reality, there have been many fires that left behind heartbreaking consequences when obstacles appeared that slowed down the fire fighting and rescue process.

Specifically, at about 5:22 a.m. on July 8, the Hanoi City Police Command Information Center received a fire report at house number 12, Tho Quan alley (Tho Quan ward, Dong Da district).

After 5 minutes, fire trucks and rescue vehicles of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Dong Da District Police arrived at the scene and deployed teams to put out the fire and search for trapped people.

The house where the fire occurred

However, 3 people including NQM (born 2010), NPU (born 2012) and DTD (born 2004) died.

Hanoi City Police determined that the area where the fire broke out was a house combined with a service business (pedicure, manicure), a 6-storey tube house, about 60 square meters in area, with a reinforced concrete structure.

There were 4 fire extinguishers in the house, and there were fire exits on the 1st, 2nd, and 6th floors. But the 6th floor was surrounded by brick walls and iron bars, and the other fire exits contained many flammable objects and chemicals, so the fire spread quickly.

The fact that goods were piled up in rooms from the 2nd to the 6th floors caused a fire to create a lot of smoke and dense toxic gas, hindering the fire fighting and rescue efforts of the Fire Police. This was also the reason why the victims were hindered in the process of escaping.

The sturdy "tiger cage" makes escape difficult.

Previously, at 7:44 a.m. on May 13, the Hanoi City Police Command Information Center received a report of a house fire on Thanh Cong Street (Quang Trung, Ha Dong).

Upon receiving the news, the Command Information Center dispatched 4 fire trucks from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Ha Dong District Police and the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area 4 along with dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.

At 7:49 a.m. the same day, the units approached, searched, rescued the victims, and deployed to put out the fire. After nearly 20 minutes, the fire was basically extinguished.

Authorities identified the household owner as Mr. NQM (born in 1980) and his wife as Ms. NTH (born in 1984).

The fire killed four people, including Mrs. NTKX (born in 1956, NQM's biological mother), NMP (born in 2013), NMĐ (born in 2015) and NQMH (born in 2019), all children of the household owner. NQM suffered burns to both hands and was taken to the 103 Military Hospital for emergency treatment.

According to authorities, the "tiger cage" iron fence covering the facade of the second and third floors of the house made it difficult to put out the fire.

The "life and death" path in a burning tube house

A representative of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department said that residential houses or commercial houses in many large urban areas in our country are typically built in the form of tube houses.

These tube houses have an escape route through the staircase between floors and exit through the main door on the 1st floor.

In addition, in tube houses, you can use balcony exits, terrace exits or roof exits to escape to adjacent houses or buildings.

Fire police had a hard time approaching the tube house built with a solid "tiger cage".

According to the representative of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hanoi City Police, people need to equip their homes with portable fire extinguishers, place them in convenient, visible, and easy-to-reach places, and instruct all members on how to use the fire extinguishers proficiently, including children.

If possible, install a fire alarm system, rope ladders, slow-lowering ropes, and smoke masks in the house. Absolutely do not store flammable and explosive chemicals (gasoline, oil, etc.) in the house.

"Furniture and items in the house must be arranged scientifically so as not to obstruct escape routes," a representative of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hanoi City Police advised.
