Israel's internal security agency (Shin Bet) said two flares fell near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home on November 16, underscoring the seriousness of the incident.
The Shin Bet said the two flares landed in the yard outside Prime Minister Netanyahu's residence in Caesarea, near Tel Aviv. The Shin Bet said the Israeli leader was not at home at the time of the incident, AFP reported on November 16.
"An investigation has been launched. This is a serious act and a dangerous escalation," Israeli police and security services said in a statement.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog strongly condemned the flare thrown at Netanyahu's home, adding that he had spoken with Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar, stressing the need to urgently investigate and prosecute those responsible. The person behind the flare has not yet been identified.
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called the incident a “red line” and called for a halt to any aggressive actions against Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife. “Today it is flares and tomorrow it could be live ammunition,” Ben Gvir was quoted as saying by The Times of Israel.

A month ago, Netanyahu's Caesarea residence was attacked by a drone, an incident that Hezbollah later claimed responsibility for. The Israeli prime minister at the time accused the UAV attack of being an assassination attempt on him and his wife.
The flare incident took place amid ongoing fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. In the city of Haifa, about 20 km from Caesarea, the Israeli army on November 16 accused Hezbollah of launching a series of rockets at a synagogue that day, injuring two people. Hezbollah has not commented on this information.
