On the afternoon of September 29, Mr. Cao Van Chong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, and his delegation went to the private home of world chess champion Lai Ly Huynh (Phu Loi ward, Ho Chi Minh City) to congratulate and give him a bonus.
The celebration took place in a warm atmosphere at athlete Lai Ly Huynh's apartment, witnessed by his wife and children.
To encourage the impressive achievements of athlete Lai Ly Huynh, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City awarded a bonus of 200 million VND; the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City also awarded 100 million VND to athlete Lai Ly Huynh.
Authorized by the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Cao Van Chong handed over 200 million VND from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to athlete Lai Ly Huynh.
Here, Mr. Cao Van Chong congratulated athlete Lai Ly Huynh, the first Vietnamese person to win the world championship in the men's individual standard chess event.
According to Mr. Chong, this achievement is not only the pride of Ho Chi Minh City sports but also an honor for the sports of the whole country.
"Athlete Lai Ly Huynh should promote his achievements and continue to improve to achieve high results in upcoming major competitions" - Mr. Chong sent his message.
Mr. Chong said that Ho Chi Minh City leaders always pay attention to sports and always closely follow the city's athletes.
Athlete Lai Ly Huynh is happy to receive attention from Ho Chi Minh City leaders.
In response, athlete Lai Ly Huynh expressed his emotion and honor at the affection that the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Culture and Sports had for the athletes in general and him in particular.

He also promised to continue to strive to win high prizes for Ho Chi Minh City and the country's sports, and continue to strive to retain the world championship title.
Previously, in the world chess final on September 27, Lai Ly Huynh excellently surpassed the Chinese athlete to win the championship in the men's individual standard chess event.
This is the first time a Vietnamese player has won the championship after 18 consecutive times, Chinese athletes have won.
