Will Trump's name be removed from the 2024 US presidential ballot?

The survey was conducted from January 4-8 with 2,228 participants of voting age.

Nearly a third (30%) of respondents said the US Supreme Court justices should rule to remove Mr. Trump's name from the national ballot, and 26% said it should be left to states to decide whether to remove it by the time of the 2024 US election.

In addition, 39% of participants said that the US Supreme Court should rule in the opposite direction, allowing Mr. Trump's name to still appear on the ballot in every state.

According to the survey, 53% of respondents said the judges would make a decision based on the law, while 43% thought the Supreme Court panel would make a decision based on political views about Mr. Trump.

The Colorado Supreme Court and Maine election officials in December 2023 banned Mr. Trump's name from appearing on ballots in these two states, respectively.

Two states are blocking Mr Trump from running in the 2024 US election based on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment on "insurrection".

Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, ratified in 1868, reads: "Whoever, having, as a member of Congress , or an officer of the United States, or of any State legislature, or of any executive or judicial officer of any State, shall have taken an oath to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same" is barred from holding public office.

The US Supreme Court has agreed to take over the Colorado case and is expected to issue a final ruling after hearing arguments on February 8.

Meanwhile, Mr. Trump has appealed the decision of election officials in Maine, and the case will now be decided at the state Supreme Court level.
