After the first round of university admissions in 2025 ended, a series of universities across the country, from public to private, announced additional admissions with thousands of quotas. Notably, a top public university had to conduct additional admissions for the first time in nearly 10 years; many majors at these schools had a minimum score of only 14-15 points.
Top universities also conduct additional recruitment, many public schools have "rock bottom" scores
For the first time in nearly 10 years, Hanoi Medical University has recruited 80 additional students for the social work major. Candidates use the 2025 high school graduation exam scores with the combination A00, B00, B08, the score to receive applications is from 17 points.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also recruits 230 additional students for 7 majors such as: educational technology, information technology, Russian, French, Japanese, Korean languages and international studies. The admission scores for each combination are converted based on the difference in scores between the admission combinations. The school receives applications for additional admission from September 3 to 16.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics announced the first round of additional admissions for regular university in 2025, studying at Vinh Long branch with 110 quotas for 7 regular university training majors, according to two methods: considering academic records and high school graduation exam scores combined with English proficiency. The floor score ranges from 18 to 19 points, depending on the major.
Vietnam Aviation Academy recruits 190 additional students for many majors, according to 5 methods including considering high school graduation exam scores, transcripts (entire year of grade 12), assessment of capacity of Ho Chi Minh City National University and Hanoi National University, international certificates (SAT, ACT, IB).
Additional recruitment sectors include: international trade (international business), aviation trade services management, hotel and restaurant management, travel management, logistics and supply chain management, aviation economics (transport economics)...
Among the schools announcing additional admissions, it is noteworthy that there are public universities applying very low floor scores.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is recruiting additional students for the majors of seafood processing technology, materials technology and business administration (international joint program) with a score of 16 to 17 points.
The University of Labor and Social Affairs (Campus II in Ho Chi Minh City) is recruiting additional students for 5 majors, with 4 majors having a minimum score of only 14 points, while the economic law major has a minimum score of 18 points. Some majors such as business administration and accounting have an additional quota of 60-70 students.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment also announced additional admission for many majors, with admission scores based on high school exam scores starting from 15 points; based on academic records from 18, 12 to 19, 10 points depending on major. The school will accept additional admission applications until 5:00 p.m. on September 12.

Thousands of additional admission quotas at non-public universities
Saigon International University (SIU) is recruiting an additional 350 students for 29 regular undergraduate training majors. The deadline for receiving additional applications is September 10.
The school considers additional applications in 3 ways: 12th grade transcript (3 subjects in the admission combination from 18 points); 2025 high school exam scores (3 subject combination scores from 15 - 18 points); 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University capacity assessment test scores (from 600 points).
The majors at SIU range from 32 million/1 semester and tuition fees are committed to remain stable for the entire course. In addition, SIU is currently applying many diverse scholarship programs for candidates regardless of the method or admission period. Therefore, candidates only need to meet the scholarship criteria to immediately receive scholarships from 30% to 100% of the full course tuition.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance conducts additional admissions by combining 3 subjects for the entire 12th grade for block C01 (literature, math, physics) from 19 points, the remaining combinations are 18 points; the additional admission score based on the average score for the entire 12th grade for all majors is 18 points. The additional admission period is until September 10.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is considering additional admission of 1,000 students for all regular university majors with 2 methods of considering high school transcripts (considering the average score of 3 subjects in grade 12 and considering the average score of the whole grade 12). The time for receiving registration for admission is until 5:00 p.m. on September 10.
Van Lang University accepts applications for additional admission to 61 majors with 5 admission methods: considering high school graduation exam scores, high school transcripts, Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment test scores, admission combined with aptitude test, admission based on computer-based university entrance assessment test results (V-SAT).
Gia Dinh University recruits 371 additional positions for 8 majors: artificial intelligence, financial technology, communication technology, public relations, information technology... Flexible admission methods with low scores: from 15 points (high school exam), from 16 points (school report card), or from 550 points (HCMC National University's capacity assessment).
Hong Bang International University accepts additional applications for more than 30 majors from medicine, engineering to economics and communications, with the minimum score ranging from 15 to 17 points.
