For example, at the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), the environmental science major (English-enhanced program) has a standard score of only 18.5. Thus, candidates only need 6.5 points/subject to be admitted to this top school.

Some other majors of the school have low benchmark scores such as environmental science 19 points, environmental engineering technology 19 points, geology 19.5 points, oceanography 20 points.

However, besides the majors with extremely high benchmark scores, in 2024 there were also majors with easy scores of just over 7 points that were admitted, such as applied biology 21.9 points, Russian language 22 points, French language 22.7.

The lowest standard score to enter the school is 22.56 (average 7.52 points/subject) in business administration.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the highest standard score to enter the school based on graduation score is 27.8 (average of each subject is 9.3 points). The lowest major is public health with 21.45 (average of each subject is 7.15).

At the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), the highest and lowest standard scores for the majors entering this school have a big difference in the admission method combining many criteria.

The highest benchmark score is 84.16/100 points in computer science. Meanwhile, the major with the lowest benchmark score of the school is construction geotechnical engineering with only 55.38 points, a difference of 28.78 points. The textile and garment group has the next lowest benchmark score with 55.51 points; construction economics 58.59 points...

According to the school’s explanation, some majors have lower benchmark scores than “hot” majors such as computer science and artificial intelligence because they are less popular with candidates. Even though in reality, these are majors with the necessary human resources.

This is also a common problem at many top schools. Some majors have not really attracted the attention of candidates, so the competition is not too fierce and the entrance score is low.

In reality, candidates often focus on hot majors, while many majors that are not "named" and have high demand have not really received attention.

According to many admissions experts, the top schools with scores above the standard score may be stable or decrease slightly. The middle schools and top schools with scores below the standard score this year may decrease by 1-2 points.

Quick statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training show that as of 5:00 p.m. on July 28, the number of candidates registering for admission was nearly 850,000 out of more than 1.1 million candidates taking the high school graduation exam.
