On the morning of September 17, 3,303 students in grades 10, 11, and 12 in Ho Chi Minh City entered the exam to select the excellent student team for the 2025-2026 school year.

Notably, this year the largest number of candidates were not only English (779 students) and Math (395 students). Subjects with the most candidates were also Literature (481 students), Chemistry (299 students), Physics (283 students), Information Technology (268 students)...

The following is the number of candidates taking the exam to select the excellent student team for the 2025-2026 school year in Ho Chi Minh City, ranked from highest to lowest, in which KV1 is region 1 (old Ho Chi Minh City), KV2 is region 2 (old Binh Duong), KV3 is region 3 (old Ba Ria - Vung Tau ):

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, this is an exam to select outstanding students from high schools to form a team to participate in the national excellent student exam for the 2025-2026 school year. For each subject, Ho Chi Minh City is allowed to send a maximum of 40 students to participate in the national excellent student exam.

Students selected for the selection team will participate in review and training according to the time frame and instructions of the department. After completing the training period, students will take the second round of the exam.

Based on the results of the second round, the Department of Education and Training will select students from the qualifying team to join the city's official team.

It is known that the exam to select the excellent high school student team for the 2025-2026 school year in Ho Chi Minh City will take place in two mornings on September 17 and 18, 2025. Students will choose one of the following subjects: literature, history, geography, math, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, English, French, Chinese, Japanese.

The total number of candidates taking the exam is 3,303 students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Candidates will take the same exam, with exam sites located in 3 areas to facilitate candidates, specifically as follows:

Area 1: Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (No. 235 Nguyen Van Cu, Cho Quan Ward) and Marie Curie High School (No. 159 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Xuan Hoa Ward).

Area 2: Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (No. 593 Binh Duong Avenue, Thu Dau Mot Ward).

Area 3: Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (3/2 Street, Phuoc Thang Ward).

The test content will be in the general education program, teaching content of specialized subjects at high school level, and advanced programs. Time for each test: 180 minutes. The second test of foreign languages ​​includes a listening test; the computer science test will be programming on a computer using the programming languages ​​C++, Pascal, and Python.

According to the department, the subjects eligible to participate in the exam to select the Ho Chi Minh City excellent student team are students studying in grades 10, 11, and 12 in the 2025-2026 school year, with good or better academic and training results in the 2024-2025 school year.

In particular, in region 1 (formerly Ho Chi Minh City) and region 3 (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau), specialized schools and schools with specialized classes must send at least 50% of students from specialized classes to take the exam in the specialized subject they are studying; high schools and general schools with high school level must send a maximum of 5 students to take the exam in each subject.

For area 2 (old Binh Duong ): students who have been selected through round 1 in February 2025 organized by the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong province (old) will be able to take the exam.

Grade 12 students in the official team will be recognized as winners of the city-level excellent student award for the 2025-2026 school year (first prize).

October 3: Announcement of results of the exam to select the excellent student team

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said: no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 3, 2025, the department will announce the results of the exam to select the excellent student team for the 2025-2026 school year.

It is known that at the national excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation (before the merger) won 166 prizes, maintaining the 2nd position nationwide. The number of first prizes increased in all subjects, including 1 student winning the top prize in literature.

The Ba Ria - Vung Tau student delegation (before the merger) won 56 prizes, ranking 27th out of 63 provinces and cities. The Binh Duong student delegation (before the merger) won 46 prizes, an increase of 2 second prizes and 2 consolation prizes compared to the 2023-2024 school year.
