The joy of poor households

After a short period of synchronous implementation, hundreds of houses for poor households and families of meritorious people in Thuong Minh commune have been completed. This is a testament to the drastic participation of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus and cooperation of the local people to help poor households and households in difficult circumstances soon stabilize their lives.

The house of Mrs. Trieu Thi Nhi's family, Phieng Phang village, Thuong Minh commune is being completed.

These days, the family of Ms. Trieu Thi Nhi, a Dao ethnic group in Phieng Phang village, is completing the final stages of the house under construction to prepare to move into the new house.

Mrs. Nhi’s family is poor and has lived in a seriously degraded wooden house for many years. Thanks to the State’s support of 60 million VND under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, her family was able to start building a new house.

Mrs. Nhi discussed with her family members to sell 4,000 square meters of acacia forest land for nearly 60 million VND to cover the cost. With the help of the villagers, the level 4 house is now almost completed.

Mrs. Nhi emotionally shared: With the support of the State and the help of people in difficult times, my family feels very warm. The newly completed house gives the family more motivation to actively work and produce, gradually rising out of poverty.

Not far away, Mr. Trieu Khai Tao's house is also in the final stages of completion. Mr. Tao is 63 years old, his family consists of only two people, his wife and he are considered a near-poor household. Last year, he and his wife saved up and borrowed more money to build a small house. However, during the construction, there was a heavy rain that caused the ground to sink and crack, and the house tilted to one side.

Since then, the couple had to temporarily move to their parents' house, a prefabricated house that was not really safe because the land in front of it had begun to show cracks. Now, with the State's support of 60 million VND from the temporary house removal program, Mr. Tao's family decided to level the ground at another location to build a house.

Although conditions are still difficult, thanks to the encouragement of the commune government and the help of neighbors, the 40m2 level 4 house has been basically completed and is ready to be put into use.

According to statistics, Thuong Minh commune currently has a total of 293 households approved for support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses. In addition to support from the State program, the commune has also mobilized social resources to build new houses and repair 3 more houses for extremely disadvantaged households.

As of August 17, the entire commune has completed 246 houses for poor households and people with meritorious services. The locality is continuing to urge construction of the remaining houses and striving to complete them according to the set plan.

Comrade Trung Ngoc Man, Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Minh Commune, said: To ensure the progress of implementation, the commune has mobilized synchronous resources to support people from leveling the ground, digging the foundation, transporting materials to supporting bricks. With the cooperation of the government and the people, we are determined to complete all the remaining houses as soon as possible so that poor households have stable housing and can confidently develop their economy .

The completion of hundreds of new houses has helped poor households and policy families in Thuong Minh have safe and stable housing to live and develop their economy. This is the result of the active participation of the entire political system, the cooperation of organizations, unions and people with the goal of improving the quality of people's lives, aiming at sustainable poverty reduction.
