On the evening of September 18, the official fanpage of Ninh Duong Story (Ninh Anh Bui and Nguyen Tung Duong) attracted attention when they announced that they would stop organizing fan meetings in Ho Chi Minh City. In their post on the fanpage, the duo said that they had been in Ho Chi Minh City for the past few days to prepare for the event. They wanted to bring a well-organized meeting and exchange to those who have supported them for nearly 2 years. Both said that they and their crew had put a lot of effort into preparing everything from the content, stage scale to the performances and gifts, in order to create a meaningful memory.

However, recently, Ninh Duong Story's fan meeting event suddenly became the center of controversy. The content creator duo shared: "At the present time, we are very sad to see that the event, which was simply a meeting, exchange and performance that was licensed, has now become the center of unwanted controversy. The incident must have affected the emotions of many people, including you, the people we always want to bring positive things to. With the responsibility of content creators, we do not want those negative things to affect the community further. Therefore, after thinking very carefully, we decided to stop organizing the event."

Refund tickets, give gifts and support part of air tickets

According to Ninh Duong Story, making the decision to stop at this time was very difficult. The duo also apologized to each audience member who spent time, effort and money to participate in the event. Ninh Duong Story expressed: "The decision to cancel the event was an extremely difficult decision and we understand that it causes loss and disappointment to many people. But we believe that stopping at this time is an important move that demonstrates our responsibility to society. More than anyone, we understand that nothing can fully compensate for your feelings and preparations for this event. However, Ninh and Duong want to send you our small efforts, as a sincere thank you and apology to those who have always believed in and loved us."

To compensate the audience, Ninh Duong Story also offered a support plan including refunding all ticket prices for 1,338 audiences who had purchased tickets; paying all costs for audience community projects with the organizers to prepare for the event; sending all ticket buyers a set of commemorative merchandise (cards, strings, bags according to ticket class, stickers, posters and glowing bracelets). For audiences who came from far away and incurred airfare costs, the duo said they could not fully compensate, but would open a form to record and try to support part of the costs incurred.

At the end of the post, Ninh Duong Story also spoke out against false information and baseless speculation. The duo affirmed: "We have consulted lawyers and worked with authorities to protect legitimate rights and ensure transparency. Above all, we are always Vietnamese citizens who respect the law, love our country and appreciate the good values of society."

On the afternoon of September 18, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City responded regarding the licensing of the fan meeting for the duo Ninh Duong Story (including Ninh Anh Bui and Nguyen Tung Duong).

According to the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, on September 3, 2025, the Department received Document No. 030925/TB-CV from The Bros Vietnam Joint Stock Company, requesting to organize the program "Exchange with Nguyen Tung Duong and Ninh Anh Bui". Based on the application for permission and the regulations in Decree 144/2020/ND-CP of the Government on performing arts activities, the Department issued Document No. 2785/SVHTT-NT dated September 11, 2025, approving the unit to organize performing arts as requested.

The program's content includes songs that have been reviewed and popularized in many previous programs. For the performance and interaction with the audience, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City has coordinated with relevant agencies to work with The Bros Vietnam Company, requesting additional security plans, interaction scripts as well as other activities to ensure the conditions for the event to take place safely and in accordance with regulations.

Currently, the agencies are coordinating with the organizing unit to appraise the content as requested; at the same time, reviewing the program and checking a number of assurance plans prepared by the organizing unit.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports added that the program "Interaction with Nguyen Tung Duong and Ninh Anh Bui" does not carry out administrative procedures for advertising activities. Content with other commercial elements is not under the state management function of the Department.
