As a locality that suffered heavy damage, deep flooding over a large area, many places had landslides due to the impact of storm No. 3, Yen Bai city currently has 21 distribution transformer stations without power and over 7,000 customers were affected. The city's electricity had to stop supplying power due to the flooding incident affecting the safety of the power grid system and the lives and property of the people. In the past few days, the city's electricity workers have been working hard in the rainy and windy weather to fix the power grid and restore power supply to customers. However, with the current situation, it is not known exactly when the problems will be completely resolved.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Truong, residing in Hong Ha ward, Yen Bai city, shared that the power outage in the past few days has greatly affected our family life. There is no electricity to light up, charge the phone battery, even the spare battery is dead, making it difficult to contact family and rescue teams. Today, the water has completely receded, we do not know when we will have electricity again.
Storm No. 3's circulation also seriously affected the power grid system, causing power outages in the communes of Muong Lai, Tan Linh, Khai Trung, Tan Lap, Phan Thanh, Minh Chuan, Luc Yen district. Many electric poles were broken, fell, and tilted; many meter boxes and line accessories were damaged...
Mr. Vu Dinh Phuc, Director of Luc Yen District Electricity, said that in the face of the damage caused by storm No. 3, Luc Yen Electricity quickly segmented and zoned off to determine the incident, at the same time mobilized maximum human resources, vehicles, equipment, materials and deployed to fix the incidents, repair, check the safety status of the power grid in the areas, trying to restore power to people as soon as possible.
The impact of storm No. 3 caused flooding and landslides, thus severely damaging the power grid system in Yen Bai province. The entire province had 897 distribution transformer stations without power; hundreds of power poles, high-voltage lines, medium-voltage lines, medium-voltage poles were tilted, collapsed, broken, nearly 31,493 meters and metering systems were damaged... causing 27,909 customers to be affected by power outages.
Up to now, 48/60 medium voltage lines and 746/897 transformer stations have been restored; 88,579 customers have had electricity restored. However, due to hundreds of landslides and traffic disruptions, many areas have not been able to connect to the power supply. Yen Bai Electricity Company is looking for ways to classify, fix and make efforts to restore power to customers as soon as possible after checking the power system to ensure safety.
According to Mr. Cao Binh Dinh, Director of Yen Bai Electricity Company, the Yen Bai electricity industry has suffered more than 45 billion VND in damage due to storm No. 3. Currently, the company is mobilizing maximum forces to restore the power grid, in which priority is given to providing stable power to hospitals and medical facilities, agencies and units that are directly directing and implementing the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
“The company has prepared all plans to ensure stable power supply for the people as soon as possible, especially starting this morning, when the water recedes, we are concentrating 100% of our staff to carry out the task and have also increased a number of staff in the areas of Nghia Lo and Van Chan to concentrate on supporting the areas of Yen Bai city and Tran Yen” - Mr. Cao Binh Dinh added.
To prevent electrical accidents, Yen Bai Electricity Company has also issued some recommendations on electrical safety after floods. Accordingly, the electricity industry recommends that local authorities at all levels coordinate to disseminate to the people measures to ensure safety before and after areas are electrified, comply with the principles when using electricity, pay attention to measures to prevent electrical incidents and accidents so that the power grid operates safely and stably.
