According to the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Phong city), up to now, the whole city has over 300 households concentrating and accumulating more than 3,000 hectares of land to form large-scale commodity production areas, mainly rice production, concentrated in the communes: Nguyen Binh Khiem, Vinh Thinh, Vinh Hoa, Vinh Hai, Vinh Bao, Chan Hung, Tan Minh...
There are some communes in the Western region that, in addition to rice production, also produce effective winter crops such as: The land accumulation model of Mr. Dinh Van Am's household (Gia Phuc commune) who rents and borrows land with a scale of 35 hectares; Mr. Doan Xa Bung (Thanh Mien commune), scale of 38 hectares; Mr. Tran Xuan Ai (Thanh Mien commune), scale of 54 hectares... These land accumulation models mainly grow cabbage, kohlrabi, cauliflower, and sign contracts to consume products with traders.
Currently, localities are encouraging farmers to accumulate land to create conditions for large-scale commodity production, bringing high economic efficiency, saving costs, labor, and pesticides; overcoming the situation of abandoned fields, successfully converting crop structure, and restructuring the agricultural sector.
