This is not the first time People's Artist Mai Hoa has chosen Hanoi as her musical inspiration. Previously, she released the album Hanoi 49 with 10 immortal pre-war songs. But this time, with her dedicated team, she brought 9 special songs: Hanoi Pink Heart (Nguyen Duc Toan), Remembering Hanoi Autumn (Trinh Cong Son), Blue Sky of Hanoi (Van Ky), Hanoi and I (Le Vinh), Hanoi Autumn (Vu Thanh), Remembering Hanoi (Hoang Hiep), Hanoi in the Season of Flying Leaves (Huu Xuan), Hanoi Afternoon (Vu Quang Trung) and My Sister (Trong Dai).

Although My Sister does not have the word “Hanoi” in the lyrics, it is associated with the movie Hanoi People , becoming a melody deeply engraved in the memories of many generations. This song, through Mai Hoa’s voice and a youthful arrangement combining folk materials, has created a strong impression: soulful, profound but not tragic, but full of femininity and strength.

"The album's name comes from the colorful flags and flowers on the street, while I sing slowly like the rhythm of my life. It's a contrast but also a harmony, so that each song has both the excitement of flags and flowers while keeping the deep voice of Mai Hoa" - People's Artist emotionally shared.

From that idea, the team including journalist Nguyen Khiem (editor), musician Hong Kien (arrangement), musician Duy Nghia (recording, mixing) started to work with a lot of enthusiasm. Notably, three songs: Remembering Hanoi, Blue Sky of Hanoi, My Sister were kept in their original recordings - a rare thing in the studio.

Musician Duy Nghia revealed: "That day, Ms. Hoa was not very well, she only intended to record a demo. But her voice was so rich that I dare her to record it better a second time."

Familiar with her deep, husky voice, this time People's Artist Mai Hoa boldly included many high-pitched singing parts in the album: "Some people say I'm only suited to low notes, but I want to challenge myself. I believe that Mai Hoa can not only sing low notes well, but can also sing high notes with equally clearness and brilliance."

The artist also confided that because of her slow personality, she is sometimes not decisive in her career. She promised herself that after Hanoi, she will release more music products regularly "because after the title of People's Artist, she feels she needs to be more responsible towards the audience".

At the album launch press conference, People's Artist Lan Huong was moved: "Listening to Mai Hoa sing Remembering Hanoi , I feel my nostalgia for Hanoi is many times greater, even though I am sitting right in the heart of the capital. The images in the MV remind me of my youth, the time when I took the 5-cent train to Hoan Kiem Lake, and ate ice cream for a dime. Thank you Mai Hoa for preserving Hanoi's cultural identity through your singing."

"When Mai Hoa called, I agreed immediately. Making an album about Hanoi is something I cannot refuse" - the musician said.

He admitted that the biggest challenge was to refresh songs that were too familiar, especially My Sister . But with empathy and absolute respect for the work, the two created 9 arrangements that were both fresh and retained their essence.

"Mai Hoa's deep voice is a valuable asset. I believe this album will bring a feeling of both familiarity and strangeness to music lovers," he affirmed.

People's Artist Mai Hoa: The title of 'film music queen' has ended, life has turned a new page . People's Artist Mai Hoa is happy with her current life and she said her life has turned a new page. "The low note only represents my voice, not the life I have," the artist affirmed.
