Not long ago, at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, a press conference to launch the collection of 40 songs "Singing about you - Wild orchid branches" was held in the emotional atmosphere of friends and colleagues. The two typical songs chosen as the theme of the collection are also a deep mark in his composing career - songs that have accompanied the memories of many generations of Vietnamese music lovers.

People's Artist - Musician The Hien always believes that local artistic creations have a lasting vitality, and are a "business card" introducing the identity of each land. He often mentions senior musicians such as Thanh Son with "Ao moi Ca Mau", "Soc So Bay Soc Trang " or Tran Long An with "Dan flute Hau Giang" as typical examples of the spreading power of music associated with the locality.

From the trips to Binh Chanh and Nha Be, he and his colleagues observed, listened to the people's thoughts, discovered the daily changes of his hometown and then nurtured new songs.

After the trip to Binh Chanh, he contributed to organizing the composition contest "Binh Chanh - Song of Pride", which attracted many artists. In Nha Be, he excitedly shared: "The artists are very happy to discover many good topics that Nha Be is aiming for such as green construction and development. We will definitely have good works about Nha Be in the near future."
He also repeatedly called for a mechanism to promote works after each field trip, mobilizing professional artists to participate in spreading artistic values to the public.

The Hien - "The soldier" without a military rank
Author Nguyen Trung - Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association said: "In the hearts of the public, People's Artist and musician The Hien is "a soldier without a military rank". He did not come from the army but his whole life was associated with the image of a soldier".
Meritorious Artist and singer Hong Van emphasized: "Of the 40 selected songs, there are 32 songs written about soldiers and Truong Sa such as "Singing about you", "Rung orchid branch", "When the soldier returns", "Singing on Son Ca island"... Every song is good and leaves a lot of emotions".

People's Artist Musician The Hien has visited Truong Sa 6 times, each trip is an emotional milestone. The first time in 2012, right on the sea voyage he received news that he was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist.
Also during that trip, he composed "Song on Son Ca Island" - a song based on Phan Hoang's poem, born in the moment of emergency alert on the island, artists and soldiers took shelter and sang together "Peaceful Sky". Those moments became the living material for his music.

The Hien and the artistic heritage left to future generations
When launching the collection "Singing about you - Wild orchid branches", he emotionally confided: "This is the crystallization of nearly 40 years of composing, attached to the city's youth, to farms, forestry farms, youth volunteers... I hope to contribute a small part to the composing movement towards the 50th anniversary of national reunification".
The collection was printed in 1,000 copies and not for sale — true to the spirit of an artist who lives for the community. 500 copies were sent to the forces in Khanh Hoa and Truong Sa; the rest were sent to the Ho Chi Minh City Command, Military Region 7, Military Region 9, officer schools... as a tribute from the musician to the soldiers.

With the newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong , he was presented with a gift by the program "Mai Vang Tri An" on June 22, 2022 at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association.
