People's Artist Mai Hoa is familiar and new in "Hanoi of flags and flowers"

On the afternoon of September 23, People's Artist Mai Hoa officially announced the release of a special album titled " Hanoi Flag Flowers". This is not the first time she has released an album about Hanoi. Previously, the female singer released "Hanoi 49" with 10 songs of the pre-war music genre - immortal songs, typical of modern Vietnamese music.

With "Hanoi of Flowers and Flags", the audience enjoyed 9 songs about Hanoi: "Hanoi with a Pink Heart" (Nguyen Duc Toan), "Remembering Hanoi's Autumn" (Trinh Cong Son), "Blue Sky of Hanoi" (Van Ky), "Hanoi and I" (Le Vinh), "Hanoi in Autumn" (Vu Thanh), "Remembering Hanoi" (Hoang Hiep), "Hanoi in the Season of Flying Leaves" (Huu Xuan), "Hanoi Afternoon" (Vu Quang Trung) and "My Sister" (Trong Dai).

Among them, "My Sister" was composed by musician Trong Dai from the poem "For a Birthday" by poet Doan Thi Tao. Although there is no mention of Hanoi, it is a familiar song in the movie "Hanoi People" (1996). The song has gone beyond the framework of a movie soundtrack and has long become one of the familiar melodies, recalling the image of Hanoi people.

Having lived and worked in Hanoi for over 30 years, People's Artist Mai Hoa said she wanted to do something meaningful to share the joy of the nation. Six months ago, the artist started working on the idea of making an album with the production team including journalist Nguyen Khiem (editor), musician Hong Kien (arrangement, arrangement) and musician Duy Nghia (recording, mixing).

Notably, in the album, there are three songs that she sang "live" only once and the crew decided to keep the first recording without editing. The female artist said that when recording, both the singer and the person in charge of recording are rarely satisfied with the first recording, but out of the 9 songs in "Hanoi Flags and Flowers", there are 3 songs that she only needed to record once because the crew felt that she sang with the best spirit and emotion. Those three songs are: "Remembering Hanoi", "Blue Sky of Hanoi" and "My Sister".

Famous for her characteristic low voice, but in "Ha Noi Co Hoa", Mai Hoa renews herself by singing in a higher pitch. "Some people say Mai Hoa sings lower notes better, but in this album I want to challenge myself by overcoming that. I want to prove that Mai Hoa can sing not only low notes, but also high notes well" - People's Artist Mai Hoa expressed.

Answering the question about the time to do her own live show, Mai Hoa said that she was lucky to be blessed with a singing voice, and luckily when doing music projects, she always had people to support and help her, so she only needed to focus on her singing voice.

"Regarding economic issues, I have a good team that supports me a lot. It's not that I don't have the conditions to do a live show, but maybe I need a push, a leverage to be determined to do it" - the female singer affirmed.

Musician Hong Kien, who arranged the album, commented that Mai Hoa's voice is deep, thick and powerful, and the low notes are her own mark in each work.

"I'm sure it will be interesting. There are many projects and albums about Hanoi, but I think this time it will be a touch of both novelty and familiarity with Mai Hoa's voice" - musician Hong Kien said.

Sharing at the album launch, People's Artist Lan Huong said that to her, Mai Hoa is a talented person, good at acting and great at being a singer.

"When watching the MV "Remembering Hanoi", I really only knew two words: "deep". Listening to Mai Hoa sing, I felt the deepness clearly, very emotional" - the famous actress expressed.
