Da Nang: A 6th grade female student at Tran Quang Khai Secondary School was dragged on the concrete floor, kicked, and slapped in the face by three female classmates, resulting in a concussion.
According to the victim’s mother’s report, at 7 p.m. on April 11, the female student was at home when a female 7th grader from the same school came and invited her out. Her daughter was then taken to a section near Phu Thuong Church (Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District) and then attacked by three female students.
In the minute-long video clip provided by her parents, a female student is seen being dragged across the concrete floor by a classmate, who kicks her repeatedly and slaps her in the face. Another student deliberately rips off her shirt. She is then left sitting in the middle of the street.
The female student's mother said that because her friends threatened her, she did not dare tell her family when she got home.
A few days later, the female student coughed up blood, had a stomachache, felt nauseous, and had a swollen head, so her family took her to Da Nang Hospital. Doctors diagnosed her with a "concussion" and she had to be treated at the Department of Neurosurgery and was discharged on April 19.
The family filed a complaint with the police, local authorities and the Board of Directors of Tran Quang Khai Secondary School. The victim’s mother said her daughter had been beaten many times before, but had no evidence so she did not report the incident.
On April 20, Mr. Le Van Hoang, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Hoa Vang district, said that three students involved in the incident had been identified. One of them was in grade 7, the other two (one in grade 8) had dropped out of school a month ago.
According to the student who filmed the video, the cause of the fight was because the victim spoke ill of the 8th grade female student.
Mr. Hoang said the police have worked with the students involved to verify. The victim’s health and mental state have stabilized.

Female student fights have been occurring continuously over the past few weeks. In early April, in Ho Chi Minh City, a female student at Tan Phu Secondary School was attacked by 3-4 of her classmates, who grabbed her hair, punched, slapped, and stomped on her body and face for nearly 10 minutes, even though she knelt down and begged for mercy.
Meanwhile in Quang Binh, last weekend, a 7th grade girl in Quang Trach was attacked and stripped by two of her classmates, and had to be hospitalized in a state of panic. Most of the students who witnessed the incident did not intervene, and even laughed and used their phones to record the video.
For many years, the education sector has maintained three forms of punishment for these students: warning, reprimand, and temporary suspension (up to 1 year). However, most schools only suspend students for 1-3 weeks.
