A facility producing and trading fake coffee using additives and chemicals of unknown origin in Pleiku City has just been busted by Gia Lai Provincial Police.

On January 26, Gia Lai Provincial Police said that the Investigation Police Agency had initiated a case and prosecuted Nguyen Hoang Vu (32 years old), residing in Pleiku City, to investigate the production and trading of narcotics. fake coffee

Vu was prosecuted and investigated for the crime of "producing and trading in counterfeit food products".

Previously, the Police Department criminal investigation Regarding corruption, economy , and environment, Gia Lai Provincial Police organized a simultaneous inspection of many coffee production sites in Pleiku City.

Through inspection, it was discovered that 3 establishments producing and trading "Uyen" brand ground coffee, located at alley 3 Nguyen Thiep, Pleiku City, were marinating and mixing additives and chemicals of unknown origin into coffee to bring to the market for consumption.

The police made a record of temporarily seizing more than 800kg of packaged coffee at the facility and some coffee distributed at grocery stores in Duc Co, Chu Prong, Krong Pa districts, Pleiku city (Gia Lai province) and Dak Ha district ( Kon Tum province).

Along with that, 426kg of coffee mixed with additives and chemicals but not yet packaged was confiscated.

After requesting an appraisal, the investigation agency determined that 785kg of this included fake coffee. According to the police, before being discovered, a large quantity of fake coffee labeled "Uyen" coffee had been sold on the market.

Currently, the Gia Lai Provincial Police Investigation Agency is continuing to expand the investigation of the case.
