AIMO, founded by the Asian Mathematical Olympiad Committee in 2012, is one of the most prestigious English-language Math competitions in the region, with the participation of more than 20 countries and territories.
Every year, over 150,000 students compete in this arena, thereby conquering mental challenges, training their abilities and opening the door to integration.
Vietnam officially participated in AIMO in 2019. In just 6 years, Vietnamese students have won more than 220 international medals, affirming their increasingly solid position on the Asian intellectual map.
Following the success of the AIMO 2025 international final in Tokyo, Japan (the Vietnamese team won 1 Championship, 10 Gold Medals, 7 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals), the Organizing Committee launched the Asian Mathematics Arena - AIMO for the 2025-2026 school year.
This is an international academic activity, aiming to nurture passion for science , arouse the desire to conquer knowledge, and at the same time create opportunities for Vietnamese students to integrate globally.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Head of the AIMO Organizing Committee for the 2025-2026 school year, said that the special feature of the exam is that candidates do math in English, helping them access global knowledge and practice their integration skills. AIMO strongly attracts the student community thanks to its wide reach and its target audience ranging from grades 2 to 12. This year, the organizing committee focuses on expanding the scale, creating conditions for students in all regions to have the opportunity to try their hand.
Students from grades 2 to 12 studying at public schools in the country can register for the exam via the electronic portal https://aimo.tienphong.vn/. Registration period is from September 26 to November 15.
The contest has 3 rounds: preliminary round, regional round and national final round. Exam format: online, exam language: bilingual English - Vietnamese. Through the online round, candidates will be confirmed to be eligible to participate in the live round.
Candidates with excellent results and reaching the minimum score threshold as prescribed by the organizing committee will be awarded certificates according to the following categories: A, B, C and encouragement. Candidates with C prize or higher will be selected to enter the national final round (taking place before April 20, 2026).

Candidates with high achievements and meeting the requirements of the international AIMO of each grade will be nominated to the Vietnamese AIMO team to participate in the international final round.
The international final round is expected to take place from August 1 to 5, 2026 with about 3,000 contestants and 5,000 teachers and students' families from more than 20 countries and territories around the world .
