The launching ceremony of the Asian Mathematics Competition - AIMO for the 2025-2026 academic year officially took place at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on the afternoon of September 26.

AIMO (Asia International Mathematical Olympiad) was founded by the Asian Mathematical Olympiad Committee in 2012 and is one of the most prestigious English-language Math competitions in the region, with the participation of more than 20 countries and territories.
Every year, over 150,000 students compete in this arena, thereby conquering thinking challenges, training their abilities and opening the door to integration. Vietnam officially joined AIMO in 2019. In just 6 years, Vietnamese students have won more than 220 international medals. In 2025 alone, Vietnam achieved its highest achievement ever with 1 championship, 10 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
The Organizing Committee awarded certificates of merit to members of the Vietnamese team that won high prizes at the AIMO 2025 arena.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Tien Phong Newspaper and Hanoi University of Science and Technology will coordinate to organize the Asian Mathematics Competition - AIMO nationwide, selecting Vietnamese representatives to participate in the international playground.
AIMO for the 2025-2026 school year for students from grades 2 to 12 will be implemented in a four-level interconnected roadmap. Students will compete individually, going through three national rounds before officially becoming members of the Vietnamese team at the international finals.
The preliminary round will be held online on AIMO Vietnam's technology platform, nationwide from November 2025 to December 2025, divided into 3 rounds. Each candidate can only take the exam once.
Candidates with high scores will be selected to continue to the Regional round which will be held in March 2026 in 3 regions North - Central - South in a direct format. The round will determine the typical representatives to attend the National Final.
The national finals are scheduled to take place before April 20, 2026, in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, with the test entirely in English. This is also the place to honor the best contestants of the season, and at the same time select the team representing Vietnam in the international finals.
The roadmap's destination is the AIMO 2026 International Finals, held from August 1 to 5, 2026.
AIMO for the 2025-2026 school year is not only a competition but also one of the activities to concretize the major orientations of the Party and State on education , science and technology.
In 2025, 100% of contestants from Vietnam have won high prizes at AIMO.
At the press conference on September 26, Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association, and Journalist Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, awarded certificates of merit to members of the Vietnamese team who had won high prizes at the AIMO 2025 arena. Of which, 20 Vietnamese students received certificates of merit and 2 Korean students were awarded certificates of merit from the Organizing Committee of the Vietnam Asian Mathematics Competition.
