Discovery of new dinosaur species helps reveal evolutionary mysteries of the Jurassic period

The above discovery has important scientific significance, contributing to clarifying the evolutionary history as well as the geographical distribution of long-necked dinosaurs in the world.

Chinese scientists have just announced the discovery of a new species of dinosaur dating back about 180 million years, from the early and middle Jurassic period.

The fossil was found in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, southern China, and named Huashanosaurus qini.

This is a long-necked herbivorous dinosaur, belonging to the sauropod group, with an estimated body length of about 12m.

Huashanosaurus qini has many unique anatomical features that set it apart from previously known sauropods, the researchers said. In particular, its bone structure suggests it is one of the most primitive long-necked dinosaurs recorded in Southeast China.

The above discovery has important scientific significance, contributing to clarifying the evolutionary history as well as the geographical distribution of long-necked dinosaurs in the world .

Scientists say the existence of Huashanosaurus qini shows that the South China region was once a diverse habitat for large herbivorous dinosaurs, and may have served as one of the early centers of sauropod evolution.

Over the years, China has continuously recorded new dinosaur fossil discoveries in many localities, consolidating its position as one of the countries with the richest fossil resources in the world.

Researchers hope these discoveries will continue to help decode a more comprehensive picture of the development of dinosaurs over the course of Earth's history./.
