Some hard-to-fix errors discovered on iPhone 15 even though it was just released

Following complaints that the new phones were getting very hot, Apple said the devices may get hotter in the first few days “after setting up or restoring the device due to increased background activity.” The iOS 17 software also makes the device run hotter than usual.

“Another issue related to some recent updates to third-party apps also caused system overload,” Apple said, adding that it is working with app developers on fixes that will be released in the near future.

Third-party apps causing problems included the game Asphalt 9; Instagram by Meta; and Uber, according to the company. Instagram fixed the problem with its app on September 27.

The upcoming iOS 17 fix won't throttle performance to address iPhone temperature issues.

Apple says the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max don't overheat by design, as the new titanium casing provides improved heat dissipation compared to previous stainless steel models.

Apple also said the issue does not pose a safety risk and will not affect the phone's long-term performance.
