Thang Long Vinh Phuc Industrial Park is considered a model industrial park, prioritizing attracting high-tech, environmentally friendly projects.
With a large area and diverse resources, Phu Tho province has identified industry as a breakthrough spearhead, creating growth momentum, contributing greatly to the budget and promoting other sectors. However, instead of massive development, the province has chosen a sustainable direction: Building green and ecological industrial parks, considering this an important criterion to attract foreign direct investors (FDI). In fact, in the current development trend, FDI investors increasingly promote social responsibility, pay attention to environmental factors and sustainable development. Therefore, the orientation of developing green industrial parks has helped Phu Tho quickly become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors. With many mechanisms and policies prioritizing clean land funds, administrative reforms, and selecting investment projects that have been issued; at the same time, the province resolutely refuses projects that pose a risk of causing environmental pollution.
In addition, Phu Tho always accompanies leading enterprises, innovates, and applies emission reduction solutions. Typically, the Vinh Phuc ICD Logistics Center project is oriented to become Asia's first dry port with zero net emissions by 2040; or Honda Vietnam supports supporting enterprises to apply green production technology. These are clear evidences of the province's vision for sustainable industrial development.
One of the typical examples is Thang Long Vinh Phuc Industrial Park (IP) invested by Sumitomo Corporation (Japan). With an area of 213 hectares, Thang Long IP has completed both phases, attracting 41 projects, of which 29 projects have come into operation. Notably, 20% of the IP's area is reserved for trees, lawns, and water surfaces, creating a harmonious ecological landscape. In addition to green infrastructure, Thang Long IP also builds factories for rent to serve high-tech enterprises such as Toto, Daiwa, Tsuchiya...; at the same time, arranges a commercial service area to support secondary investors. When filled, this IP is expected to have about 70 projects, creating jobs for 20,000 workers. The success of Thang Long IP not only affirms the attraction of Phu Tho but also opens up the prospect of building more new model industrial parks.
After expanding its administrative boundaries, Phu Tho has 32 planned industrial parks, of which 16 have been put into operation, creating stable jobs for hundreds of thousands of workers, contributing up to 90% of the province's total budget revenue. In the first 7 months of 2025, the province attracted 651.7 million USD in FDI capital, including 35 new projects and 45 projects with increased capital. This is an impressive figure, showing the attractiveness of Phu Tho in the context of increasingly fierce competition to attract investment between localities.
Not only industrial development, many large-scale projects in the fields of urban, tourism and services have been started such as the Cuoi Ha cable car system, Serena Resort or the Viet Tri golf course project worth more than 1,000 billion VND. This shows that Phu Tho is strongly transforming, moving towards a multi-industry, multi-pillar economy, but still firmly taking green industry as the foundation for development.
According to Mr. Hoang Long Bien, Head of the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board, developing green industry is the “key” for the province to attract strategic investors in the coming period. He emphasized: “We clearly define our responsibility not only in developing synchronous and modern industrial park infrastructure, but also in creating a sustainable investment environment, linking economic growth with environmental protection. The Provincial Industrial Park Management Board will continue to accompany businesses in all stages, from site clearance, investment procedures to operational support, in order to build Phu Tho into a destination for high-tech, environmentally friendly projects.”
To realize the target of double-digit growth in 2025 and the following years, Phu Tho is resolutely solving "bottlenecks" in industrial development. In particular, site clearance, land price determination, and land source for leveling are key issues. The provincial government has closely directed and required sectors and localities to coordinate closely, speed up progress, and accompany investors. In addition, it is promoting administrative reform, applying digital technology in handling investment procedures, construction, fire prevention and fighting, etc., creating maximum convenience for businesses. At the same time, the province encourages the development of renewable energy, applying clean technology, reducing emissions, and prioritizing high-value, low-pollution industries.
In particular, to welcome the "eagles" to "nest", Phu Tho focuses on developing synchronous infrastructure both inside and outside the industrial park fence, building an ecosystem of supporting industries, science and technology services; paying attention to training high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of large corporations. In the context of shifting global supply chains, Phu Tho is facing a golden opportunity to attract green FDI capital. By taking advantage of geographical advantages, regional connectivity infrastructure, and open policies, the province has the opportunity to become the green industrial center of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.
