Following yesterday's strong increase, this morning, right after opening, the stock market performed positively, VN-Index surpassed the 1,700 point mark, at times reaching more than 1,710 points. However, after reaching the peak, selling pressure increased, causing the index to shake.
At the end of morning trading, VN-Index temporarily stopped at 1,694.87 points, down slightly by 0.63 points.

In the afternoon session, selling pressure increased sharply, causing the market to turn negative. At the close, VN-Index fell 10.2 points (-0.6%) to 1,685.3 points. VN30-Index fell 9.32 points (-0.49%) to 1,909.65 points.
Unlike the previous session when stocks increased overwhelmingly, today's session was dominated by red with 247 stocks decreasing in price and 77 stocks increasing in price. In the VN30 group, there were 21 stocks decreasing in price and only 7 stocks increasing in price.
Profit-taking pressure caused most sectors to fall, but the decline was not too sharp. The sharpest decline was in the hardware and equipment group, down 2.94%. The banking, insurance, and energy groups also fell more than 1%.
On the contrary, consumer services, healthcare equipment and services, essential goods trade, utilities, and telecommunications are the sectors that go against the trend. Of which, consumer services have the most positive performance, increasing by 6.39%. In this group, VPL increased to the ceiling, contributing the most to the VN-Index (2.49 points). Some other codes also supported the index such as LPB (0.56 points), VHM (0.38 points), VIC (0.28 points)...
Investors pushed up selling in the banking group, causing many pillar stocks to fall in price, although the decline was not deep. Of the 10 stocks that pulled the index down the most, 8 were in the banking group, including CTG, MBB, VPB, TCB, VCB, STB,ACB , BID, of which CTG took away the most points (0.98 points).
Buyers were cautious, causing liquidity to decline. Over VND25,600 billion was traded on the entire floor. Foreign investors bought over VND2,432 billion and sold over VND3,774 billion.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 1.82 points (-0.66%) to 272.87 points. The HNX30-Index fell 10.29 points (-1.73%) to 585.57 points. Total trading value reached nearly VND2,500 billion.
