Visiting the fish and soft-shell turtle breeding model of Ms. Pham Hong Sau's family, residential group 8, Song Ma commune, I was impressed with the scientifically designed fish breeding ponds, divided into many neat small compartments. Ms. Sau shared: The family started raising fish and soft-shell turtles in 2000. At first, there were many difficulties, but through training courses organized by the Commune Women's Union and learning from effective models, the family now has 2 fish breeding ponds and 4 commercial soft-shell turtle breeding ponds. Each year, the family sells tens of thousands of fish and soft-shell turtles to the market, earning a profit of 300-400 million VND, after deducting expenses.

Meanwhile, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy's family in Tay Ho village chose to develop their economy by growing fruit trees combined with processing longan. In 2015, she began to improve more than 1 hectare of longan by cutting and grafting new varieties, and in 2017, she continued to plant 1 hectare of green-skinned grapefruit and Dien grapefruit. Thanks to proper care, each year the family's garden harvests over 35 tons of various fruits, after deducting expenses, earning a profit of 350 - 400 million VND. Ms. Thuy informed: In recent years, facing difficulties in the fresh longan consumption market, the family has proactively invested in building a longan drying kiln to increase the value of the product. This year's longan crop, the family harvested about 16 tons of fresh fruit and bought more from the villagers, processing about 8 tons of finished longan, helping to increase income.

After the merger, the Women's Union of Song Ma commune has more than 3,300 members, operating in 37 branches and villages. With the goal of helping 5 households headed by women members escape poverty each year, the Song Ma Commune Women's Union has focused on activities to support members in economic development through entrusting banks to lend capital to members, supporting women in accessing technical advances, and supporting start-ups. Ms. Vi Thi Trang, President of the Song Ma Commune Women's Union, said: The Union is entrusting the Song Ma Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to lend capital to 433 members, with a total outstanding debt of more than 28 billion VND. In addition, it coordinates with relevant agencies and units to organize vocational training classes, transfer technical advances in production and animal husbandry; advise members on production plans and business plans, helping women effectively promote capital sources, stabilize their lives, and contribute to sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.

Along with economic support, the Association also promotes the construction of the model of "5 no, 3 clean", "Green house", "Clean house - Beautiful garden"; maintains the cleaning of alleys, and manages women's self-managed roads. From July to now, more than 2,400 members have participated in cleaning alleys, hamlets, and embankments, contributing to creating a clean and beautiful landscape.
