Da Nang central ward lets students stay home from school to avoid storm Than Gio

On the evening of October 21, the People's Committee of Hoa Cuong Ward, Da Nang City announced that students would be off school due to the impact of storm Than Gio (storm No. 12).

Accordingly, Hoa Cuong ward, Da Nang city allows preschool children, primary and secondary school students to stay home on October 22 to cope with storm Than Gio. Particularly, vocational training institutions and private universities will proactively decide on the school attendance of students based on the actual situation.

School principals proactively assign relevant departments to be on duty to be ready to respond to arising situations.

Hoa Cuong Ward is located in the center of Da Nang city, with many roads often experiencing localized flooding during heavy rains. The movement of students and parents picking up their children is hindered, potentially dangerous when storm No. 12 is predicted to cause widespread heavy rain.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang city issued a document instructing the chairmen of the People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones, along with leaders of schools and centers, to regularly monitor the weather situation and decide, based on reality, to let preschool children, students, and trainees take time off from school to ensure safety, and at the same time promptly inform the Department of Education and Training.

Vocational training institutions and private universities are allowed to proactively decide on the learning of students and trainees. In case they cannot go to school, the department encourages units to implement online teaching.
