District 6 wants to reserve a 'beautiful' piece of land to build Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital, facility 2

On May 31, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of the People's Committee of District 6 said that he had sent a proposal to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City about requisitioning vacant land in the area to build Eye Hospital 2.

According to this leader, currently in District 6 there are many vacant public land areas that the district is managing. In the long term, the district always prioritizes land funds for health and education development.

“The land for the Eye Hospital to build a second facility is expected to have four frontages, making it convenient for the people. In order not to waste public land, the district will focus on healthcare and education,” he informed.

Currently, District 6 People's Committee has sent a report and recommendation to introduce land to build the Eye Hospital's second facility to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.

According to the leader of the Eye Hospital, the hospital currently receives an average of more than 4,000 patients per day for examination, treatment, and surgery.

In addition, the hospital also has nearly 1,000 employees, many students and patients' relatives.

With an area of ​​only about 15,000 square ^meters , the hospital always faces overload, especially in the morning due to people's medical examination habits.

In the long term, to reduce the overload situation, the hospital and the Department of Health have planned to propose to the City People's Committee to allocate land for the hospital to build a second facility, helping the hospital both achieve the goal of reducing overload and meet the direction of the City Party Committee and People's Committee in building a specialized medical center in the ASEAN region and promoting medical tourism .

Previously, in October 2023, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City and the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City met to discuss and agree on the development orientation of Thu Duc City to become the third specialized medical cluster of the city.

Accordingly, Thu Duc City will allocate land that has been planned for medical land as vacant land, in which priority will be given to the vacant land (0.8 ha) to build a new Eye Hospital 2 using stimulus loans.

According to Tuoi Tre 's investigation, Thu Duc City People's Committee is currently waiting for approval of the master plan.

Eye Hospital is ranked as a city-level architectural and artistic relic.

Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital is a grade I specialized hospital, the leading ophthalmology facility in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region.

In September 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee decided to rank 2 architectural and artistic relics as city-level relics, including Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital (No. 280 Dien Bien Phu Street, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3).

According to Dr. Le Anh Tuan - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital, in recent years, the unit has invested in many advanced and modern ophthalmological technologies, contributing greatly to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

The hospital is also a practice facility for universities: Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The upcoming orientation of Ho Chi Minh City will aim to turn the hospital into a specialized center of ophthalmology on par with the region and reach world-class standards in a number of fields.
