Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, shop owner Hieu Nguyen said that this is his business establishment on Thai Ha street, a low-lying area of Dong Da ward.

The coffee shop opened at the end of August. Up to now, the shop has been in operation for more than a month but has had to "flood" 3 times.

The first time, the restaurant suffered from rising rainwater due to the impact of storm number 9 - Ragasa. The next time happened on September 30, the restaurant staff had to flee from the flood due to the impact of storm Bualoi - storm number 10.

The most recent time was when Typhoon Matmo submerged the restaurant on October 7. Three consecutive times in one month left Mr. Hieu and his staff in a "half-crying, half-laughing" situation.

"Every time the rainwater flooded into the shop, the water rose up to 60cm. The worst time was during Typhoon Bualoi when the water level reached 90cm. Every time, we quickly raised the tables and chairs to save the expensive equipment. However, the interior was still quite severely damaged," said Mr. Hieu.

Naming the restaurant "Lac Em", Mr. Hieu hopes to convey the feeling of peace to his customers. However, after three floods, the restaurant owner admitted that he had to consider a plan to prevent water from entering the restaurant, avoiding the next rains that could happen with greater intensity in the near future.

Every time there is a storm, the restaurant has to close for 4-5 days for general cleaning. The most recent flood on October 7th caused the least damage to the restaurant compared to the previous ones. After a day of cleaning, the restaurant was able to reopen to welcome customers.

Regarding the upcoming flood prevention plan, the shop owner said he will learn from experience to block the water, raise the furniture, and turn off the electricity to ensure safety. He also plans to seal all the water holes under the floor and the base of the wall with glue to prevent water from overflowing.

Previously, another coffee shop located in lane 199 of Tran Quoc Hoan street was also dubbed "the most miserable coffee shop in Hanoi" when it was flooded just one day after opening.

Due to the influence of storm No. 11, heavy rain on the morning of October 7 caused Hanoi to be flooded at 122 locations.

In Hanoi, there is widespread heavy rain, concentrated in a short period of 5 to 7 hours. The average total rainfall is from 100mm to more than 300mm.

As of 7am on October 8, Hanoi still had 13 flooded spots such as Le Duc Tho, Trieu Khuc, Duong Dinh Nghe...
