Applications in key industries and fields
Quang Ninh is a locality with production activities, especially industrial production, leading the country. With a policy of balancing economy , environment, and people, the province always pays attention to environmental protection, especially in key industries and fields.
In the medical field, medical facilities in Quang Ninh province apply microbiological technology and AAO membrane technology to treat medical wastewater; the equipment system uses microwave technology to treat infectious medical solid waste, integrating grinding and cutting in the same treatment chamber, converting the entire waste into normal waste that does not contain infectious pathogens.
In the agricultural sector, biological products have been used in many places in the province to process livestock and poultry manure and straw into organic fertilizer, contributing to significantly improving the rural environment and increasing crop yields; managing industrial shrimp farming ponds... Or localities have used probiotics in livestock farming.
Over the past 5 years, the province has also actively shifted its economic structure towards developing clean industry, supporting industry, processing and manufacturing industry, and high-tech industry; focusing on researching advanced technology to minimize environmental impacts...
Currently, industrial parks and clusters in the province are increasingly concerned with ensuring environmental safety during operation. The Management Board of Quang Ninh Economic Zone said that there have been 7 automatic wastewater monitoring systems and centralized wastewater treatment plants completed in industrial parks: Hai Yen (Mong Cai), Texhong (Hai Ha), Cai Lan, Viet Hung (Ha Long), Dong Mai, Song Khoai, Nam and Bac Tien Phong (Quang Yen). The stations all ensure stable, effective and continuous operation. At the same time, data from the stations are transmitted online to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for management, monitoring and supervision in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 40/ND-CP dated May 13, 2019 of the Government. Industrial wastewater when discharged into the environment all ensures quality indicators.
Quang Ninh province is also completing planning, concentrating resources, shifting to the North and West to develop industrial zones, clusters, and facilities, contributing to the industrialization and modernization of rural areas, away from Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay; prioritizing high-tech and biotechnology construction materials industry, ensuring green production and applying advanced management models.
To minimize water pollution in Ha Long Bay, all 16 cruise ships operating in the bay have installed oil-water separation equipment and treated domestic wastewater. In addition, to absorb oil spills and spills on ports, ship decks, equipment, oil-stained tools and in the area where generators are located in the bay, oil-absorbing buoy systems, oil-absorbing pads, and oil-absorbing cotton fibers made from the biological product Enretech-1 have also been widely used.
Application to environmental quality monitoring and resource management
Advanced technology is not only deployed by the province in key sectors and fields but also focused on application in environmental quality monitoring and resource management. Notable among them are the database system and software serving the management of natural resources and environment, online natural disaster warning in Quang Ninh province (Regional GIS Center); geographic information system (GIS) in inventory and construction of database for managing water pollution sources in Ha Long Bay; environmental monitoring database serving environmental management in Quang Ninh province...
According to the Ha Long Bay Management Board, monitoring of waste sources is being improved in the coastal area of the bay. The province has completed the installation of Japanese Jokaso domestic wastewater treatment equipment, collecting and treating all wastewater generated by tourists and management staff at Titop Island. Since then, the wastewater has met the A-class standard (QCVN 14:2008) before being discharged.
The province also focuses on investing in ensuring the automatic environmental monitoring system operates stably and effectively. According to the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring of Quang Ninh province, the whole province has 161 automatic environmental monitoring stations that monitor the implementation time, including 1 national air environment monitoring station in Hong Ha ward (Ha Long city). Data on air parameters, surface water, sea water, emissions, wastewater, etc. are continuously monitored automatically and transmitted to the monitoring center in real time, allowing state management agencies to assess and determine the level of environmental pollution in the areas where the stations are located, helping to control emission sources well. From there, management measures can be quickly taken to prevent emissions from exceeding the permitted limits according to Vietnamese standards.
The application of advanced science and technology in protecting the natural environment in Quang Ninh has achieved many positive results, helping the province gradually realize the goal of "taking cultural development, building ecological civilization, saving resources and protecting the environment as the focus" in the period of 2020-2025. This is also the basis for Quang Ninh to successfully implement Resolution 10-NQ/TU dated September 26, 2022 of the Provincial Party Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership in resource management, environmental protection, disaster prevention and mitigation, climate change response, and ensuring water security in the period of 2022-2030.
