Quang Tri: Urgently complete the flood overpass to ensure safety during the rainy season in Lie area.

On July 31, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Chief of Office of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, said that the provincial leaders have directed the early completion of the flood overpass to Lia commune to ensure safety during the flood season and border security.

Accordingly, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, Mr. Tran Phong, requested that the construction of the flood-overpass bridge on provincial road DT586 must complete capital arrangement before August 5, 2026.

The Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Construction to direct construction units to concentrate human resources, materials, and equipment to speed up the project's progress according to the principle of 3 shifts, 4 shifts, and strictly handle contractors who are behind schedule. The Department also needs to arrange staff to regularly inspect, urge, and resolve problems to ensure progress and quality. The People's Committee of Lia commune is responsible for completing site clearance before August 19 and coordinating with the investor during the construction process.

Continue to complete the construction of the flood overpass to Lia

The project to build two flood-overpass bridges was approved by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to be implemented from August 2024, with a total investment of 26.8 billion VND. The total length of the route is nearly 730m.

However, the project is still in disarray. Contractors have completed the main structure of the bridge with a construction value of about 10.3 billion VND, but have not yet constructed the approach roads at both ends of the bridge, the slope, and auxiliary works.

Contractor continues to put machinery into work

Provincial Road DT586 connecting National Highway 9 with the center of Lia commune is a vital traffic route, serving socio -economic development and rescue in the border area with Laos. However, for many years, this route has been frequently cut off during the rainy season due to many overflows, especially at Km3+937 and Km12+771, the section passing through Lia commune was heavily washed away.

Mr. Tran Dinh Dung, Chairman of Lia Commune People's Committee, said that DT586 is the only road leading to the commune center. The construction of two overpass bridges at Km3+937 and Km12+771 has been prolonged, causing difficulties for people, civil servants, border security forces, medical staff, and teachers to travel during the rainy season. Currently, the Provincial People's Committee is allocating capital and urging contractors to complete the project before the rainy season.
