Quang Tri focuses on responding to storm No. 9

Quang Tri Province requests the People's Committees of coastal communes and Con Co special zone, and units to conduct inventories and notify owners of vehicles, captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of the storm so that they can proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur. At the same time, strictly manage going out to sea at seaports and fishing ports; resolutely not let ships go out to sea when there is a risk of storm impact.

In addition, units and localities organize to review and inspect areas at risk of flooding, inundation, landslides, river banks, urban areas, low-lying areas, and unfinished construction works to have a plan to handle incidents when they occur;

The Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Industry and Trade direct dam owners and investors to deploy plans to ensure the safety of works, especially important reservoirs and works under construction. The Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police, and the Provincial Border Guard Command are ready with plans and proactively arrange forces and means to deploy response, rescue, and relief work when required.

Up to now, reservoirs in the province are operating safely; in which, the total capacity of the Irrigation reservoir managed by the Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company has reached about 67.67% of the designed capacity. Localities and units have inspected, reviewed, and evaluated the current status of the works to detect, fix, repair, and restore damages in a timely manner.

At the same time, build, review and update disaster response plans, emergency response plans for works and downstream areas for lakes and dams, and dike protection plans in vulnerable areas for dikes and embankments to proactively respond when natural disasters occur.

According to statistics, in the whole Quang Tri province, there are a total of 8,577 vehicles, with over 23,232 workers. As of 3:00 p.m. on September 22, there were 7,382 vehicles with over 18,741 workers, anchored at the port; 1,195 vehicles, with over 4,490 workers, were operating at sea. Currently, the vehicles have received information about the storm.

Currently, in the province, there are over 3,000 hectares of rice in the ripening stage, about to be harvested; nearly 300 hectares of corn, over 20,000 hectares of cassava, over 2,500 hectares of various vegetables and beans, over 3,700 hectares of coffee in the development and harvesting stage; over 2,500 hectares of various vegetables and beans in the stem and leaf development stage; over 3,100 hectares of pepper in the flower bud differentiation stage, over 30,000 hectares of rubber in the latex tapping stage and 10,700 hectares of fruit trees in the fruit development and harvesting stage...

Quang Tri province requires localities to direct people to urgently protect and harvest according to the motto "green at home is better than old in the field" for food crops, flowers and aquaculture; resolutely evacuate people on cages and aquaculture huts to safe places before the storm directly affects them.
